Gambit and Virtus.pro secured their first victories at IEM Winter 2021. Now the teams will meet in the group stage semifinals, presenting CIS derby fans for the right to advance to the championship playoffs. At the same time, BIG and GODSENT won sensational victories over FaZe Clan and Heroic, respectively.

Gambit - fnatic

The meeting between Gambit and fnatic took place on the Ancient map, which the British-Swedish tandem has become so fond of lately. However, Gambit showed a fairly varied game in the attack, having managed to win the half with a score of 9: 6. Immediately after the change of sides, the Russian team continued to push forward, quickly running forward. At some point it seemed that fnatic would be able to impose a fight and make a comeback. But after a series of lost rounds, Gambit took matters into their own hands to end the opponent's suffering in attack - 16: 9.

ENCE - Virtus.pro

The parallel duel also took place on the Ancient map. However, in this case, there was a little more struggle, since none of the teams managed to show a series of rounds, exchanging minimal victories based on the results of both sides. As a result, the teams reached overtime, where Virtus.pro players turned out to be stronger, having won the first victory in the championship - 19:17.

FaZe Clan - BIG

The meeting of the two "problem" teams took place on the Mirage map. At the same time, the German team played a very strong half in the attack, having received three rounds of advantage. However, after the change of sides, FaZe Clan entered the game, which had to show its selection of rounds in order to run ahead. Nevertheless, BIG managed to escape and reduce the case to overtime. Here the German team, having received a psychological advantage, managed to demonstrate an exemplary defense in order to leave the server as the winner - 19:17.

GODSENT - Heroic

In another fight, there was an equally striking sensation called GODSENT. The Brazilians showed two strong halves, having managed to prevent Heroic from coming back in the attack. As a result, GODSENT scored an unexpected victory over the favorite, thereby remaining in the upper bracket of the group stage - 16:13.
