Will the new FIFA be a good game?

EA Sports and FIFA parted ways after almost two decades of relationship and with this ended one of the most important partnerships in sports and video games. The American studio decided to keep the licenses and launch a completely new game. EA FC24 has received mixed reviews.

The top football body said it plans to continue with the brand and is about to launch the sequel to FIFA 23, but according to reports, things are not going so well, because they have not been able to find the ideal developer and the licenses are slipping away.

It's a great idea to download the Meridianbet App because there are the best events with the best odds, plus you can do it in the safest way. With the Copa America and the European Championship coming up this summer, it's a great idea to make your passion even more exciting.

The question here is, can the new FIFA be any good? Because everything indicates that it could be a mistake and something that could affect the image of Infantino who is not in the best moment.

Licensing could be a problem

As is well known, EA Sports and Konami have all the licenses of the teams, stadiums and tournaments, obviously this makes the games attractive, because who doesn't want to play the Champions League or the Libertadores with their favourite team. The relationship of EA Sports with FIFA was ideal, because the American studio is one of the ones that has the most licenses and to associate with the maximum organism was ideal because everything was made easier for them and obviously it was the official game.

But the main problem for FIFA is that the teams are independent entities and can sell their image rights to whomever they consider, the same case with competitions other than the World Cup.

This is a problem for Infantino and the idea he has for his game, as he could only have the World Cup, but no competitions, as these already have a commercial contract with EA and Konami. Obviously, a game without licenses is not attractive.

The engine would not be the same

EA Sports implemented in their new game EA FC 24 is the latest generation Frostbite 3, which has an exclusive arrangement with the American studio, this would represent a big problem for FIFA, as there is no engine as powerful as this and getting one would be starting from scratch.

A real alternative they have is to use the same one that Konami is using for Efootball, which is the Unreal Engine. The problem is that this engine is having a lot of problems, and that's why PES and its latest instalments have not been the best. One solution that FIFA is looking at is that they are going to wait a year or two for Epic Games, the creators of this engine, to perfect it, because it has shown a lot of potential, but it's not quite ready yet.

The people in charge of the new installment of the legendary game don't want to wait that long, because EA has broken the market because with the amount of licenses and the gameplay of this new game it has won the admiration of the gamer world and football lovers.

Waiting would be the best thing to do

But as we say, waiting would be the best thing to do. Because they are waiting for the engine to be finished that they need to make the game run as they want it to, and thinking about marketing, it would also serve to create an expectation, and to make a better plan for a comeback.

This wait would serve to renegotiate with clubs and leagues, because they need licenses to make the game more attractive. Now there is a lot of competition, and they can't be just another option because unseating EA seems to be a very complicated mission.

They could think outside the box

One option that has been discussed is that it should not be the typical football game as it has been for more than 20 years. It has been proposed to be an arcade version, like Virtua Striker back in the day, something much more fantasy than reality.

This would be a complete turnaround, and would offer football fans something much more fun and perhaps even retro and romantic. FIFA could go for something completely different so as not to compete directly with EA and find a new niche market.

Obviously, this carries a risk, because if it doesn't work it would be the end of the series as we know it.

Infantino is not having his best moment

Another factor that may affect the relaunch of FIFA is that Gianni Infantino is not being very popular at the moment. His decisions have alienated the football fan, because his new target is content creators like Speed who are not well regarded in the football world.

Leaving aside decisions such as the 48-team World Cup, partnering with these characters is not good, because those who truly work for and for football are pushing them aside.

His idea is to reach out to a new generation of fans, but it hasn't worked, because these characters are not well regarded either. The clearest example was what happened with Salt Bae at the World Cup final in Qatar.

Infantino could not afford a failure with the video game, as it could be the catalyst for a fall from power that could hurt the game a lot, as exaggerated as this sounds, but it is very possible. They have to be very careful with this because they can't expose FIFA's lack of organisation. What do you think? Should they pull out of them, or should they plan their strategy better?
