When Does the New Season of Fortnite: Chapter 6 Season 2 Release Date, Skins, Cinematic Trailer

The new cinematic gameplay trailer for Fortnite, set to rap beats that gave me strong NWA and Public Enemy vibes, introduces a crime-themed adventure that fits perfectly together.
I’ve seen big gaming outlets expressing disappointment with the new skins, but how can you be upset when Lawless — better known as Chapter 6 Season 2 — features Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat? Not to mention a pickle wearing a bandit mask!
Right now, here’s a quick rundown of the new Fortnite season, the release date (which is just around the corner), and all the skins revealed in the cinematic trailer that are 99% likely to be in the next Battle Pass.
Fortnite New Season Release Date
The release of the new season, Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2, is set for the same day the current season ends — February 21. Previously, players expected a short downtime between seasons, with the release happening the next day, but the developers have now confirmed the exact date.
There shouldn’t be any delays since Fortnite updates are usually preloaded beforehand. Of course, there will be a brief technical pause to unpack the update in-game, but it’ll take much less time than a full day.
Chapter 6 Season 2 Skins

In the image, the characters are posing against a height chart backdrop—just like every classic mugshot lineup for arrested criminals. All previously rumored New Season Fortnite skins appeared in the Chapter 6 Season 2 trailer, meaning we can consider them confirmed.
It’s classic Fortnite, reimagining its signature characters, mixing them with guest appearances, and throwing everything into a wild theme that feels like a college costume party in a flashy streaming series.
For the food-themed skin lineup (think bananas, hot dogs, and peas), we’re getting Bandit Pickle. Then, we have reimagined versions of Midas and Kiara. The Fortnite new season's typical antagonist — or just the ultimate bad guy with sharp teeth — is rocking a wolf’s head, making him a prime candidate for the final Battle Pass page.
This season’s big collab skin? Sub-Zero. And honestly, he fits right into the game's chaotic mix. I mean, who wouldn’t want a Battle Royale showdown between Sub-Zero, Spider-Man, Travis Scott, Messi, and a Japanese horned demon? At this point, what skin doesn’t fit in Fortnite? (all anime skins for example).
Fornite Chapter 6 Season 1 Leaks

We can gather a lot of details about the new season’s updates from the trailers, but Twitter data miners always dig up unofficial info hidden in the game files. And chances are this, and even more, is what’s waiting for us in the New Fortnite Season on February 21.

The map changes are still a bit unclear, but they’re highly likely. Fortnite’s map is always evolving, so new locations are pretty much a given. Expect changes on:
- Tanuki Terrace
- Nightshift Forest
- Lost Lake
- Warrior’s Watch
The Fortnite new season’s, Chapter 6 Season 2 map changes will likely be even bigger than what the leaks suggest. Right now, you can spot hints of the new map in the teaser for the Fortnite x Avatar collaboration, featured in the main menu — Avatar: The Warriors of Pandora.

Expect some GTA V-style mechanics — specifically, robbing armored cash trucks. According to leaks, players will be able to crack open a Meltanit truck and loot some gold.

And, as expected — thanks to the themed skin — we’re getting Mortal Kombat-inspired combat mechanics.
- Scorpion’s Spear Hook – This one will probably feel pretty familiar.
- Sub-Zero’s Ice Gauntlets – The real question is, will they let us completely freeze an enemy in ice?
Since Scorpion-style mechanics are being added to the new Fortnite season, and he’s Sub-Zero’s eternal rival, there’s a decent chance we might see Scorpion himself drop later in the season.
When does the New Season End?

Chapter 6: Season 2, also known as Season 34, marks the second season of Chapter 6 in Fortnite: Battle Royale, kicking off on February 21, 2025. This season's catchy slogan, "Lawless Dill With It," brings a thrilling crime-themed vibe to the game.
Given that seasons typically last around 74 days, we can expect this one to wrap up around May 6, 2025. (It's just my personal bet)
Since its 2017 debut, Fortnite has evolved through multiple chapters, each introducing unique themes and gameplay elements. Chapter 1 (Seasons 1-10) established the game's foundation, culminating in a black hole event that transitioned into Chapter 2. Use our All Seasons Calendar in huge material about every season, since Season 1 (2017), to to get to know them since. Chapter 2 (Seasons 1-8) offered a refreshed map and mechanics, leading to another significant event that ushered in Chapter 3.
Chapter 3 (Seasons 1-4) continued the narrative with new locations and collaborations. Chapter 4 (Seasons 1-4) expanded the game's universe further. Chapter 5 (Seasons 1-4) introduced additional gameplay innovations. Currently, Chapter 6 has begun, with Season 2, titled "Lawless Dill With It," starting on February 21, 2025, featuring a crime-themed storyline.
