Surprise, disappointment and acceptance: RMR tournament reviews
Elen StelmakhThe day before the RMR tournaments came to an end and all the participants in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 were determined. The past qualifying championships have caused many sensations, as a number of favourites, who could easily fight for high places in Paris, could not even qualify for the majors. At the same time we saw some sensational results which can only be described as tsunamis. In this article we will summarize the RMR tournaments and find out who will fight for the title of the last CS:GO world champion.
Europe
Let's start with the European part of the RMR tournaments. First and foremost, everyone is talking about the failure of Virtus.pro and the decisions that were made by the team during the event. Considering the seeding and the opponents the team faced, this result can certainly be called a failure. Moreover, no substitutions made it any better, but only added fuel to the general confusion.
At Europe RMR A we also saw a few sensations. Firstly, the Ukrainian team B8 had almost made a miracle, but failed to adjust in BO3 and failed to qualify after two long victories. Secondly, Into The Breach and Bad News Eagles managed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, and straight into "legends". Thirdly, it was unexpected to see Apeks and GamerLegion, who were not considered favourites before the Long Sogpeg RMR tournament, among the participants in the Majors.
As for Europe RMR B, there were just as many sensations. One of them was the failure of Team Spirit. "The Dragons had been experiencing problems for some time, but in Copenhagen the essence of all negative things happened. And it cannot be said that the team had difficult opponents, since they lost to Aurora, 500 and Astralis - all of whom also failed to qualify for the majors.
Another surprising result came from the Monte team, which had been showing good online play a few weeks before. But suddenly the Ukrainians came to the first LAN tournament and nearly made it to the "legends". Also we cannot forget about 9INE, which showed such a cool performance that it got the first seed, having managed to defeat G2 Esports, BIG and Vitality.
Speaking of underdogs, we can't forget Cloud9 and BIG who were left out of the last major. And you can't say that the teams looked weak in some aspects. In this case, they were very unlucky with the group, because in RMR A they would have had much more opportunities not to fall in the mud.
FaZe Clan also had a lot of problems, as they made it to the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 on the flagship stage. Considering the team's seeding and tournament path, it was clearly lucky in some places. Still, the team took their last chance and made it to Paris.

America
The American RMR tournament had far fewer surprises, but due to the small number of slots, several teams were left without a trip to Paris. The first to mention is Imperial Esports which was defeated by Evil Geniuses on the first day. Also, we don't see MIBR in France who disappointed the fans in BO1. Thirdly, the absolute failure was with 00NATION, but here the team was clearly unlucky with the seeding, because playing with Team Liquid and MIBR is a straight ticket to nowhere.

- Fluxo
- paiN Gaming
Top disappointments of the American RMR tournament:

Asia
The Asian RMR tournament was without any sensations. But even here, we missed Rare Atom who didn't take their chances. Of The International, the most interesting thing was the interim success of Twisted Minds which got into the top four and even managed to beat someone. However, the qualifying championship was remembered more for its scandals and pauses than for its beautiful play.
