Rumors: Xbox Ally X Prices & Sale Start Revealed

The long-anticipated Xbox handheld is finally official, but it’s still shrouded in mystery where it counts — the price tag. Microsoft has formally revealed the Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X, two portable gaming PCs designed to blend the Xbox ecosystem with Windows-based versatility. Yet, as the hype builds, fans are left poring through leaks and unofficial sources for the missing pieces, especially around Xbox Ally X Prices and the upcoming launch window.
Handheld XBOX Ally X: What is Known from Official Announcement
During the Xbox Ally X official announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025, Microsoft revealed its first-ever handheld gaming consoles: the Xbox Ally and the more powerful Ally X. Partnered with ASUS, these devices run on a handheld-optimized version of Windows 11 and feature direct Xbox App integration, with support for PC game libraries across platforms like Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass. The Ally X is built using AMD's Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, packing a custom NPU with 50 TOPs of AI processing power. It sports a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display, haptic feedback with impulse triggers, and a new Xbox Game Bar button. Still, even with a promising build, Microsoft didn’t reveal the actual release date or pricing details, leaving some important questions unanswered.

XBOX Ally X Price
Despite its reveal, the XBOX Ally X Price remains unofficial. Microsoft has yet to confirm any price point, which isn’t surprising given the current unpredictability around global tariffs and manufacturing costs. Still, several leaks have filled the gap.
Windows Central’s Jez Corden reported that insider Extasis claimed a price of $799 USD for the Ally X and $499 for the base model. This was echoed in other sources' reports, where alleged European retailer data suggested a €899 price tag for the Ally X, which translates to roughly $1,035 USD. Taking these numbers into account, the average projected XBOX Ally X Price floats around $899 to $949. Considering Microsoft’s partnership with ASUS and the premium specs involved, a $899 launch price seems likely — but that’s just my guess, not a confirmed figure.
XBOX Ally X Sale Start
As for when you’ll be able to buy one, the XBOX Ally X Sale Start hasn’t been nailed down either. Microsoft officially mentioned a “holiday 2025” release window during the announcement. However, multiple insiders — including eXtas1s and Corden — suggest that pre-orders could begin in August, with the actual launch happening in late October 2025. No dates are confirmed, but the October target is currently the most credible.

What Games Will Be Available To Play on Ally X?
The Xbox Ally X will allow users to play any Windows-compatible game, but Microsoft made a point to highlight Gears of War: Reloaded running at 1080p 60FPS natively on the Ally X during the reveal. With full Xbox Game Pass and Steam access, players can expect titles like Starfield, Halo Infinite, and even third-party giants like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring to be within reach. According to leaks, the device will also play nice with emulation and platforms like Ubisoft Connect and GOG, meaning many PlayStation ports like Spider-Man and God of War could technically run on it as well. I hope the newly released Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is ported to PC and will be available on the X model. And since Death Stranding DIRECTOR'S CUT can be played on PC, this means that the base model Xbox Ally should be able to handle it and deliver a stable 60 FPS on Mid graphics.
XBOX Handheld Console Characteristic
The XBOX handheld console characteristic that stands out the most is its high-end, PC-level performance in a portable shell. With integrated Xbox software, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD, the Ally X feels more like a laptop in disguise. The 80Wh battery, VRR-capable display, and AI-ready hardware make it more than competitive with other devices like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally 2024.
System | Characteristic |
CPU | AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme (8C/16T, Zen 5) |
GPU | RDNA 3.5, 16 compute units |
RAM | 24GB |
Storage | 1TB SSD |
Battery | 80Wh |
Display | 7” 1080p 120Hz IPS, FreeSync Premium |
OS | Windows 11 with Xbox App front-end |
Ports | USB4, microSD, XG Mobile support |
Extras | Xbox Game Bar button, Impulse Triggers |
That said, the XBOX Ally X characteristic most users may hesitate on is the high cost. Rumored prices push it well above the Steam Deck and older ROG Ally models. Its reliance on Windows 11 also means it might face the same bloat and inefficiencies that have plagued other handheld PCs unless Microsoft’s optimized Xbox layer really delivers.

Why Do People Love Handheld Consoles?
People love handheld consoles because they bring freedom — the ability to play full-size games anywhere without sacrificing too much power. The appeal isn’t just portability but the blend of flexibility, performance, and modern AAA gaming untethered from a desk or TV. It’s gaming on your own terms.
For loyal Xbox fans, the Ally X looks like a dream machine. If you’ve built a digital library across Xbox and PC, this could become the most convenient way to carry your whole collection on the go. And if Microsoft hits the mark on optimization and keeps the price under control, picking one up during the XBOX Ally X Sale Start this holiday season might be a smart move.
June 2025 also pleased us with the sequel to Hideo Kojima's remarkable project. We have already managed to write a Death Stranding 2 walkthrough and several guides on the blog. Since an animated film and a full-length film based on the game world are also on the way, we can safely say that this is the era of a new universe, and DS2 has every chance of being the game of the year 2025.
