Naafiri is the next League of Legends champion! Here's what we know about the character so far

Riot Games has officially unveiled Naafiri, the next League of Legends champion after Milio. The character Stunet is the 164th playable champion in the Ravine of the Summoners and it's... Darkin dog. Yes, that's the dog.

Excerpt from Riot Games' description of the champion's creation

Before Naafiri appeared in all her sinister glory, she started out like so many other champions: a design goal. In the case of our new dog Darkin, the team of champions had a very specific gameplay hole that they needed to fill.

"Some time ago our champion design manager, August Browning, analysed our entire roster and split up each champion by role, class and difficulty to find areas of opportunity for players," recalls game designer Glenn "Riot Twin Enso" Anderson.

"In the end we found two big holes: a higher skill tank, which ended up being KSante, and a relatively easy and beginner-friendly assassin, which became Naafiri."

What's Naafiri's role in League of Legends

From the description of the champion, it's clear that Naafiri is a champion with assassin skills. The fact that Naafiri will be an assassin has been known for a long time. At the time of the Yuumi and Aurelion Sol revocations and before the release of Riot, there were plans to release a champion. The first was Milio and the second was Naafari herself.

As for the position on the Caller Ravine map, things are more complicated here. Judging by the short video presentation Naafiri is the centreline/forest champion, as he acts alone.

However, after the four-legged Darkin will get his place on the live LoL server, when he will be tested by the high ranking players.

What abilities does Naafari have

There is no detailed review of Naafari's skills yet. Riot Games will reveal them separately when the character is released. We, on the other hand, can speculate.

Apparently, the champion will be able to quickly overcome obstacles using something like the "Jump" Talon. Naafari will also be able to summon his pack, attacking the chosen target en masse. Summoning a pack is likely to be an ultimatum ability for the champion.

Release date for Naafiri in League of Legends

There is no exact release date yet, but it can be assumed that it will happen between July and August 2023. That means that the release dates may be July 19, August 2 and 16. On those days, updates 13.14, 13.15 and 13.16 are expected to be released respectively.

How much will Naafiri cost

Like all characters in League of Legends, Naafiri will need to be unlocked to play. For the first two weeks after release, the character will cost 7,800 Blue Essence, after which his cost will drop to 6,300 Blue Essence.
