How to protect the B site on Inferno

Inferno is one of the most popular cards in the pro scene. It is also standard for matchmaking, because the map was used in the very first versions of the game.

Inferno is a fairly simple map to master, it has time-tested defaults that work flawlessly up to a certain level of play. The best way to learn how to play a position is to watch demos of pro players who are playing this role in their teams.

Today I propose to look at the defense of the B site, which is often rushed by the attacking side and the defense players have a hard time.

A huge number of highlights were made on Inferno, I propose to recall the last one that happened quite recently, there was the third map in the playoffs, and when the score is 14-15, the Heroic player gives his team overtime, in which the team squeezes the opponent.

Defense play

The most common variation of defense is the 3 + 2 scheme, but sometimes a third player comes to B and throws his grenades on the banana, after which he retires to another site.

Site B is a closed site, which can only be reached from a banana (sometimes you can see splits through CT, but for this you need to go through the defenders of A site). Because of this, arc control is a top priority for both teams. This is a key point throughout the map. Players of the B plant in early timings throw back grenades in order to inflict the greatest damage on terrorists and stop a rapid advance. At the beginning of the round, up to three players can stand up there to knock back the starting "molotov" and fragmentation. After the first throwing and banana occupation, two players can leave under A.

The best alignment for defense is to take a banana and leave one player there, who will be the only one responsible for the B plant. He must stand on the check of the arc, and in time to throw back the smok or hammers, until the command arrives in time.

It's not so easy to win the war for a banana, especially if the attack spends a lot of resources on it, so the most common defense option for a B plant is a closed defense.

Since usually 2 defensive players play at this point, there are quite a few options for occupying positions.

Playing inside the bombsite

A huge amount of grenades often arrives inside the site, so it will not work to take some kind of static position. Alternatively, you can arrange a boost to B3.

For this position to be of maximum benefit, the second defensive player must draw attention from the side of the coffins or from the CT.

You can also take a position directly opposite the smok, which always lies and thereby surprise your opponents. The game inside the bombsite should always be variable with a constant change of position from round to round.

CT

One of the players must stay on the CT side to control the passage in this direction, smok almost always arrives there, so they make a boost to the flowerbed, which is far from always checked. If we play as usual, then we must try to throw all our grenades at the exit to the bombsite and try to sew them into the smoke. One of the popular tactics used by teams is pushing into the smoke under the flash drive, which is thrown by the player who has dragged from the A site.

Sniper game on the B plant

Very often the sniper plays on this site, since he can control a banana or take a position on the coffins and view the exit to the site. Now everyone has learned how to cut down coffins when going out for the attack, so more and more snipers take the position "behind the blue" or on CT.

The Astralis player in a recent video gave some tips when playing a sniper on the B site. The main points that he noted: always buy a smok, when going to the bombsite, take a position behind B3, and not between the boxes.
