The best way to build Neuvillette is as a main DPS. His Genshin Impact character build shines when utilizing the right weapon.

Of course, Neuvillette's signature weapon, the Tome of the Eternal Flow, is the most appropriate tool for him. In addition to increasing damage, this catalyst also enhances Charged Attack damage when HP fluctuates. It will also restore Energy to the wearer once three stacks of the effect are reached. As we prepare for Neuvillette’s rerun, it’s worth noting that Chasca, an new Anemo character with a unique mechanic, will debut in the first half of patch 5.2. Be sure to check out her build guide to make the most of her banner.

Neuvillette is really going to shine with the Marechaussee Hunter set! This equipment provides a significant boost to his Normal and Charged Attack Damage and helps land more critical hits when his health is low. Since Neuvillette's gameplay revolves around maximizing his Hydro DPS, this is the perfect choice for his Genshin Impact build. There are a couple of other options worth considering, too! The Nymph's Dream and Heart of Depth sets enhance his Hydro damage, making them viable alternatives for your Genshin character builder.

Neuvillette's Normal Attack consists of light flourishes, with three attacks dealing Hydro DMG. These attacks make him an impactful character in Genshin Impact builds.

Charged Attack Empowerment: Legal Evaluation

Neuvillette charges up by gathering the power of water to form a Seal of Arbitration. While charging, he can move, adjust his position, and absorb nearby Sourcewater Droplets. Absorbing droplets accelerates the seal's formation and restores HP. Once charged, Equitable Judgment is unleashed, dealing continuous AoE Hydro DMG in a straight-line area. This attack doesn’t consume stamina and lasts for three seconds. If his HP is above 50%, Neuvillette will lose HP during the attack, but his self-healing compensates for this, making it a vital part of his Hydro DPS build.

Plunging Attack

Neuvillette gathers Hydro energy mid-air and plunges to the ground, dealing AoE Hydro DMG upon impact

Elemental Skill - O Tears, I Shall Repay

This skill creates a raging waterfall, dealing AoE Hydro DMG to enemies in front of Neuvillette, scaling with his Max HP. Additionally, it generates three Sourcewater Droplets upon hitting enemies.

The Arkhe: Pneuma mechanic triggers Spiritbreath Thorn, which descends at intervals, piercing enemies and dealing Pneuma-aligned Hydro DMG.

Elemental Burst - O Tides, I Have Returned

Neuvillette's Elemental Burst releases waves that deal AoE Hydro DMG based on his Max HP. Shortly after, two waterfalls appear, dealing Hydro DMG in a smaller area and generating six Sourcewater Droplets. This ability strengthens his performance in the best Genshin Impact builds for sustained battles.

Neuvillette Passives

The table shows all the Ascension and passive skills, which will boost the character, but you can read more about each booster below.

Ascension 1 - Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority

When a party member triggers a Vaporize, Frozen, Electro-Charged, Bloom, Hydro Swirl, or Hydro Crystallize reaction on opponents, you'll get 1 stack of Past Draconic Glories granted to Neuvillette for 30s! These stacks are essential for optimizing his Genshin Impact build, as they enhance his Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment, increasing its DMG to 110%, 125%, or even 160% of its original value. You can get the most out of this by not topping three stacks! The good news is that the stacks of Past Draconic Glories you get from each kind of elemental reaction exist independently, making Neuvillette incredibly versatile in Hydro DPS builds.

Ascension 4 - Discipline of the Supreme Arbitration

For each 1% of your current HP that's greater than 30% of your max HP, you'll gain a 0.6% Hydro DMG Bonus. That means you could get up to a maximum bonus of 30%! This scaling with HP makes Neuvillette’s Genshin Impact character build highly effective, especially when focusing on his Max HP for both damage output and survivability.

Passive - Gather Like the Tide

This nifty little perk gives a nice boost to your own party members' underwater Sprint SPD by 15%, which is great for helping you all get around more easily and quickly! Just a heads-up, this doesn't stack with passive talents that provide the exact same effects, but it's a valuable addition for exploration in Fontaine, making it a useful feature of his Genshin Impact build.

Neuvillette Constellations

Genshin Impact build

Neuvillette is even more formidable as a Hydro DPS, with constellations that significantly increase his Charged Attack damage, Hydro DMG, and overall efficiency.

Constellation 1 - Venerable Institution

When Neuvillette takes the field, he'll get a nice little bonus: one stack of Past Draconic Glories from the Passive Talent "Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority." Before you can enjoy the benefits of this talent, you just have to unlock it! It's really simple, and we're here to help if you need it. Plus, while using the Charged Attack Empowerment, his interruption resistance will be supercharged! This makes Neuvillette's Genshin Impact build even more reliable in battle. Now for the fun part! It's time to dive into the legal evaluation and the charged attack: Equitable Judgment.

Constellation 2 - Juridical Exhortation

We've got some great news for all you Passive Talent enthusiasts out there! We've enhanced the "Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority," and it's now better than ever! Each stack of Past Draconic Glories will now increase the CRIT DMG of Charged Attack. We’re happy to report that we've made a 14% increase in Equitable Judgment! And, as a little extra, you can achieve a maximum of 42%! This improvement makes Neuvillette a top-tier choice for Hydro DPS builds in Genshin Impact. To begin, simply unlock the Passive Talent, "Heir to the Ancient Sea's Authority."

Constellation 3 - Ancient Postulation

This is it! The upgrade that's going to take your Normal Attack level to the next level! With this upgrade, your water element is going to be at its peak, seeking equilibrium at 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15, so there's still a way to go, but it's going to be worth it! This constellation further enhances Neuvillette’s role in Genshin Impact builds.

Constellation 4 - Crown of Commiseration

Once Neuvillette is back in action and fully healed, the magic really happens! One incredible Sourcewater Droplet is generated right then and there. And the best part is that it can occur once every 4 seconds! This unique ability synergizes perfectly with his Hydro DPS playstyle, ensuring sustained performance.

Constellation 5 - Axiomatic Judgment

This amazing upgrade will take your O Tides level to the next level, increasing it by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15, so you have plenty of room to grow. Get ready to soar with this incredible enhancement, a vital addition to Neuvillette’s best Genshin builds.

Constellation 6 - Wrathful Recompense

When you're ready to unleash a charged attack, here's what you do: Equitable Judgment, Neuvillette's ultimate move, allows him to absorb nearby Sourcewater Droplets in an AoE. Each droplet absorbed extends the duration of Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment by 1 second. And that's not all! Each time Equitable Judgment strikes an opponent, 2 additional currents are unleashed with every other hit, dealing a whopping 10% of Neuvillette's Max HP as Hydro DMG. And guess what? All that DMG will count as DMG dealt by Equitable Judgment! This makes him an unstoppable force in Genshin Impact builds, especially for those seeking maximum damage output.

Best teams for Neuvillette – Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact build

Neuvillette is a character that really shines when there are a lot of other support characters on his team, because they all work together to cause lots of damage. He's also very versatile, which is why he fits so well into many Genshin Impact builds!

Let's dive in and explore how each character can support Neuvillette, our main DPS, with Yae Miko, our sub DPS, Kazuha, our support, and Diona, our support, all ready to go!

While Neuvillette is out on the field, it's important to remember to keep him protected as his Charged Attack does require him to remain still, which can leave him vulnerable. Luckily, there are some great defensive supports out there who can help with this, including Diona, Layla, Zhongli, Kirara, Dehya, and Baizhu. Their shields and resistance buffs make them excellent choices for Hydro DPS builds! Yae Miko, Fischl, Lisa, and Beidou are great options for sub DPS characters! Not only can they create consistent Electro effects, but they can also act as batteries. You could even think about Dori as another great choice for the healer slot.

At last, we have an Anemo character to help with crowd control, debuffing, and further reactions, which is great for enhancing Neuvillette's performance in best Genshin Impact builds. You've got lots of great options here, like Kazuha, Sucrose, Jean, and Venti, who can fill this slot perfectly.

Neuvillette can absolutely run with another Hydro character like Mona or Kokomi as well! This buffs his Maximum HP due to the Hydro Resonance, which is really helpful for Hydro DPS builds. On the other hand, this does mean that you won't get the full benefit from his passive skill.
