Everything you need to know about DreamLeague Season 20: dates, schedule, format, participants and broadcasts

DreamLeague Season 20 is the second tournament in the ESL Pro Tour Dota 2 2023 series. This ESL event is attracting attention from Dota 2 fans and players alike due to its generous prize pool, both for an online tournament from a third-party tournament operator, and the opportunity to win two entries to the Riyadh Masters 2023, the series' main championship.

The top 16 teams from around the world will battle it out for $1,000,000 in prize money. The previous event is called DreamLeague Season 19 and the Gaimin Gladiators have already won $300,000 and a slot in the Riyadh Masters 2023. In this article you will find out all the key details about the highly anticipated DreamLeague Season 20 Championship.

DreamLeague Season 20 dates and schedule

DreamLeague Season 20 will take place in the online format. The matches will start on June 11 and the winner will be announced on June 25. In total, the tournament will be held in three stages with a rest day between each stage.

The schedule for DreamLeague Season 20:

  • First group stage - 11th - 14th June
  • Second group stage - 16th to 22nd June
  • Play-offs - June 24th to 25th.

After we took a closer look at the dates of DreamLeague Season 20, it is worth taking a closer look at the format and the stages of the tournament.

Format of DreamLeague Season 20

As we have already announced earlier, the tournament will be held in three stages. First, in the first group stage, 16 teams will be divided into 2 groups. The groups will be played in a Single Round-Robin format. The format of the matches is bo2. At the end of the first group stage, the top 4 teams in their group will advance to the next stage of the tournament while the remaining participants will leave the tournament.

The second group stage will be in a Single Round-Robin format. Eight teams will battle it out in bo3 matches to make it through to the final round. The top two teams qualify for the top two play-offs, while the 3rd and 4th placed teams in the second group stage get relegated to the lower bracket. The remaining competitors will finish the DreamLeague Season 20.

The play-offs in this tournament are a bit shorter than Dota 2 fans are used to seeing. It's still a Double-Elimination grid, but only four teams will be represented there, two of which will start in the bottom set and two in the top set. The format for all matches except the grand final will be bo3. The DreamLeague Season 20 champion will be determined by the conclusion of the bo5 series.

All DreamLeague Season 20 competitors

We mentioned earlier that a total of 16 teams from all official regions will take part in the DreamLeague Season 20. The participants will include 6 teams from Western Europe, 2 teams from Eastern Europe, 2 teams from North America, 2 teams from South America, 2 teams from China and 2 from Southeast Asia.
