Battlefield 6: Open Beta Weekend 2 Kicks Off on August 14 — Maps, Modes, and How to Join for Free

Battlefield fans are gearing up for action once again. Electronic Arts and DICE are rolling out the second weekend of the Battlefield 6 open beta, giving players one last chance to experience the game before its official release. From new maps and modes to improved features, here’s everything you need to know to join the battle.
Dates and Start Time
Weekend 2 will begin on August 14, 2025, at 9:00 CEST and run until August 17, 2025, at 9:00 CEST. Some sources initially mentioned 11:00, but that was a mistake. The official start is set for 1:00 AM PT/ 4:00 AM ET/ 8:00 UTC, which corresponds to 9:00 in Central European Summer Time.
New Content and Modes
The main addition for the second weekend is the new Empire State map — a large-scale urban location in New York City near the Brooklyn Bridge. The map combines open spaces with narrow streets, perfect for intense urban combat.
Two additional modes will also be available: Rush and Squad Deathmatch, alongside returning modes from the first weekend, including Conquest, Breakthrough, and the “Closed Weapon” versions.
New Features and Improvements
One of the key new features is Custom Search — a matchmaking system that allows players to select their preferred map and mode combinations for more targeted lobby selection.
Developers have also implemented quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback, enhancing interface control and overall gameplay convenience.
The community has already achieved remarkable milestones, causing $70 billion in virtual damage. If the total reaches $1 trillion by the end of the beta, an exclusive skin reward will be unlocked.
Why You Should Join
The first beta weekend set a record with over 500,000 concurrent players on Steam, marking one of the franchise’s best starts. Weekend 2 is not only an opportunity to test new maps and modes but also the final chance to play before the October 10, 2025 release.
How to Join Weekend 2 for Free
Access is simple — this is an open beta, available to everyone on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with no invites or codes required.
Pre-loading the game has been available since August 4. To jump straight into the action, install the client in advance and log in at 9:00 CEST on August 14. All modes and maps for Weekend 2 will be fully available for free.
