All Silksong Endings: How To Unlock Act 3

Hollow Knight: Silksong hides multiple possible endings depending on how much side content you complete. Some endings are available by simply finishing Act 2, while others demand difficult quests and rare items. The most ambitious path reveals Act 3, also called the Abyss, where the true conclusion unfolds. This guide breaks down all Silksong endings, how to access Act 3, and the tools you need to make progression easier.
Silksong Endings
Hollow Knight: Silksong endings contain six ways in total. The basic Weaver Queen ending comes from finishing Act 2 in the standard way, while the Snared Silk and Sister of the Void endings open the door to Act 3. The Twisted Child ending is tied to a curse mechanic, while Passing of the Age serves as a secret Mister Mushroom conclusion. One variant of the Weaver Queen ending also exists, with Grand Mother Silk taking full control of Pharloom, but it is often treated as part of Ending A.
Despite the overall difficulty of Silksong, many players struggle with one of its simplest mechanics — the jump. Hornet’s default leap has an unusual movement arc that can feel clumsy. To make traversal easier, you can change it to a horizontal jump by finding a Crest on the map. Once equipped, Hornet will move forward naturally during a mid-air attack, making platforming more comfortable for new players.
Unlocking Act 3 requires completing a hidden Wayfarer Wish called Silk and Soul before the final battle with Grand Mother Silk. This long questline forces players to complete almost every Wish in the game, unlock Bellhome, move Fleamaster’s caravan, and gather special souls. Once completed, the Caretaker sets a trap for Grand Mother Silk, opening a path to the Abyss after the credits roll.

Silksong Act 3 Guide
Act 3, also called the Abyss, expands Silksong with more bosses and new storylines. To open it, you must finish Silk and Soul before fighting Grand Mother Silk, then choose to play the Needolin instead of binding her. After the credits roll, reload your save file, break through the vines covering it, and you will be transported into the new chapter.
How to Pass From Act 2 to Act 3:
- Complete all available Wishes – including those on boards in Songclave, Bonebottom, Bellhart, and The Citadel.
- Unlock Bellhome – talk to Pavo in Bellhart after finishing his quests.
- Move the flea caravan – collect at least 25 fleas and relocate Fleamaster Mooshka’s caravan three times until it reaches the Putrefied Ducts.
- Trigger the Silk and Soul Wish – speak with the Caretaker in Songclave after fulfilling the above steps.
- Collect special quest items – Maiden’s Soul, Hermit’s Soul, Seeker’s Soul, and Snare Setter.
- Confront Grand Mother Silk – during the Act 2 boss fight, choose to play the Needolin instead of binding her.
- Reload your save after credits – break the vines covering your file to unlock the Abyss (Act 3).
Passing Act 3 requires completing extra wishes such as The Old Hearts and Last Dive, along with defeating new late-game bosses. It is considered the true conclusion of Silksong, tying together Pharloom’s story threads. Progression is linear but extremely demanding, requiring mastery of Hornet’s toolkit and full exploration of the map.

Ending 1: Weaver Queen
Unlocked by defeating Grand Mother Silk at the end of Act 2 and binding her. Hornet is cocooned in silk, taking on the traits of her mother, Herrah. An alternate version shows Grand Mother Silk overpowering Hornet and spreading her control across Pharloom.

Ending 2: Snared Silk
Unlocked by completing every Wish, unlocking Bellhome, moving the flea caravan, and then finishing Silk and Soul. At the final battle, choosing the Needolin opens a void portal. Lace sacrifices herself to save Hornet, Pharloom begins to collapse, and Act 3 becomes available.

Ending 3: Sister of the Void
The true ending of Silksong, available only after completing Snared Silk and continuing into Act 3. It requires finishing The Old Hearts and Last Dive quests. Hornet fights the true final boss and saves Pharloom, though void energy permanently reshapes the land.

Ending 4: Twisted Child
Unlocked by defeating Grand Mother Silk while the Twisted Bud item curses Hornet. This prevents her from using her silk arsenal, making the battle harder. The ending shows Hornet merging with Grand Mother Silk into a monstrous tree-like entity.

Ending 5: Passing of the Age
Unlocked by completing the Passing of the Age Wish and finishing the Sister of the Void ending. It involves tracking Mister Mushroom through Pharloom in a strict order, including the hardest platforming challenges in the game. After the true final boss, Mister Mushroom departs again, leaving a cryptic message.

Ending 6: Alternate Ending
A mysterious cutscene variation of the Weaver Queen ending. Grand Mother Silk fully dominates Hornet’s vessel and spreads her influence unchecked. It does not appear to grant a separate achievement and is often grouped with the Weaver Queen path.
Silksong Walkthrough Guide
At the start of Silksong, players face an immediate challenge: no map is available. To navigate Pharloom, you must collect Rosaries and purchase one from the vendor in The Marrow. This NPC also sells the Compass, Quill, and markers, which are critical for exploring effectively.
Progression becomes easier once you begin unlocking Hornet’s abilities. Powerups in Silksong range from mobility tools to combat upgrades, with some hidden in remote areas of the map. Securing them early reduces backtracking and prepares you for late-game encounters.
Another key system is Crests, which can be equipped to alter Hornet’s fighting style and traversal. Some Crests change her combat rhythm, while others allow unique movement options. The Crest of the Wanderer is among the most important, as it significantly shifts exploration possibilities.
