Marvel Rivals Update: Lower Manhattan Map

On April 2, 2026, Marvel Rivals received a new update. The main addition is the Lower Manhattan map. The patch continues Season 7: The Hunt Is On and mainly focuses on expanding the game’s content without major changes.
Lower Manhattan Map
Lower Manhattan is a standard urban-style map. It features open streets, narrow alleys, and closed courtyard areas. Because of this, matches can play out differently depending on positioning — some fights happen at range, others in close quarters.
From a story perspective, the map includes the Alchemax corporation from the year 2099, which alters parts of the city. However, this is mostly background flavor, with the main focus staying on gameplay.
The map uses the Convergence mode — a hybrid format that combines point capture and payload escort. It’s not something completely new, but it helps make matches feel a bit more dynamic.
Release Date and Availability
The update went live on April 2, 2026. The Lower Manhattan map is already available in rotation on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. No additional installation is required.
Gameplay Features
The map doesn’t change the game fundamentally, but it adds variety.
Open areas are better suited for mid- to long-range fights, while tighter spaces encourage close combat and team coordination. Overall, the layout feels familiar but balanced.
One of the new mechanics includes elements that temporarily reveal enemies through walls. This makes map control easier, but some players have already raised concerns about its impact on balance.
Part of Season 7 Update
Lower Manhattan is just one part of the update. Season 7 continues the storyline involving Kingpin, though it mostly serves as background context.
The update also includes:
- new content in the Times Square hub;
- cosmetic items and skins;
- minor bug fixes and stability improvements;
- preparation for the upcoming Season 7.5.
Notably, the patch was released without downtime — players could jump in immediately after the update.

Lower Manhattan is a solid, routine update without major shifts in gameplay. The new map adds more variety but doesn’t drastically change the overall balance.
It will likely be adjusted further, especially the enemy-reveal mechanics. The next step depends on Season 7.5 and what future updates bring.
