Meet EMEA Championship 2022: Europe!
lieThe A-tier Wild Rift tournament in Europe, Africa and the Middle East starts today - EMEA Championship 2022 Season 1: Europe, also known as WEC.
The organizers of the event were the sole creators of the mobile game Riot Games. The event will last a little over a month, from February 12 to March 20.
Tournament prizes
So far, no information has been given regarding the prize pool of the event. But let's take into account how famous and popular teams took part in the tournament and recall the experience of other A-tier tournaments from Riot Games.
Most likely the total prize pool will be about $24,000 USD, as was the case at other major tournaments in Europe, also for 16 teams, for example at the Wild Rift Origin Series in August.
The only thing we know for sure:
- 1st place: will receive a place in the WEC Championship 2022.
- 2nd-4th place: place on Last Chance.
Last Chance - most likely will be a conditional loser bracket, which will determine the second team from Europe, which will be held at the WEC Championship 2022.
Tournament format and rules
Everything is simple, rough, as we like. No group stages - the teams were immediately shuffled into the bracket.
We are waiting for the classic double grid, that is, the upper one for the winners and the lower one for those who were less fortunate. The familiar Double Elimination system.
All matches will be held and played in the bo3 format, except for the grand final. The fight for the championship at EMEA Championship 2022: Europe will be in Bo5 format.
