VCT 2022: North America Starts Today!

North America is one of the largest VALORANT gaming regions. There are only a few hours left before the start of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: North America Stage 1 Challengers. The event will run from February 11 to March 27.

This tournament is considered A-tier event, that is, the largest at the regional level. It is organized by the creators of the game and esports discipline Riot Games, sponsored by Verizon, Secretlab, HyperX and Aim Lab.

“Well, how is the money?”

The total prize pool for this tournament is $200,000 USD. Yes, this is less than €200,000 EUR with VCT 2022: EMEA, but there is only one region, not three at once.

• 1st place: $50,000 and a place at VCT 2022: Masters Stage 1.
• 2nd place: $32,000 and a place at VCT 2022: Masters Stage 1.
• 3rd place: $26,000
• 4th place: $20,000
• 5th-6th place: $14,000.
• 7th-8th place: $10,000.
• 9th-12th place: $6,000

Group stage of the tournament

Traditionally, like most tournaments, VCT 2022: NA will start from the group stage. We have already been presented with two groups of 6 teams each.

Group A:

Group B:

• Sentinels
• OpTic Gaming

• Knights

• Rise

All matches of the group stage will be held in the bo3 format and will last 5 in-game weeks, with 6 meetings each week.

Based on the points earned by the teams during the groups, the top 4 teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Four losers, two teams per group, will leave the tournament.

Playoffs

The playoffs will be played in much the same way as the group stage. Due to the fact that as many as 8 teams will take part in them, most of the matches will be played in the Bo3 format. Only the grand final and the final of the losers bracket were decided by the organizers to be held in Bo5.
