Guild Esports, BIG, SuperMassive Blaze and FunPlus Phoenix qualified for VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers

The first closed qualifiers of the VCT 2022 season in Europe, Turkey and the CIS have ended, following which Guild Esports, BIG, SuperMassive Blaze and FunPlus Phoenix have qualified for the VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers. Now the teams will prepare for the start of the first major championship of the season, which will be held online from February 11 to March 27.

European Qualifiers

The first team to overcome the sieve of the European closed qualifiers was Guild Esports. The wards of BARBARR easily walked through their bracket, outplaying TENSTAR (2:0), Rebels Gaming (2:1) and Team Vitality (3:0).

In the lower bracket, the BIG team became the champion. And if at the start of the qualification the German team first beat Alliance (2:1), and then failed to cope with Team Vitality (1:2), then in the lower bracket gob b and the company showed real character. Starting from the second round, BIG alternately outplayed TENSTAR (2:0), Alliance (2:1) and Team Vitality (3:0) to get the second ticket to VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers.

  • 7th-8th place: G2 Esports.
  • 7th-8th place: Team BDS.

Turkish qualifications

As expected, the SuperMassive Blaze team became the winner of the closed qualifier from Turkey. Having overcome the stage of open qualifiers, the team continued to develop its advantage in the closed stage, quickly defeating Zero Zone (2:0), BBL Esports (2:0) and Fire Flux Esports (2:0). In the finals of the closed qualifier, SuperMassive Blaze again defeated Fire Flux Esports (3:1), thus taking the only slot at VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers from their region.

  • 2nd place: Fire Flux Esports.
  • 3rd place: BBL Esports.
  • 4th place: Galacticos.
  • 5th place: 2L8.
  • 6th place: Football player.
  • 7th-8th place: Fenerbahçe Esports.
  • 7th-8th place: Zero Zone.

Qualifications in the CIS

The winner of the closed qualifier in the CIS region was the FunPlus Phoenix team. At the same time, ANGE1 and the company started their journey with an unexpected defeat from KPI Gaming (0:2), after which the team fell into the lower bracket. Here FunPlus Phoenix had to turn on the maximum to beat Aim.Attack (2:0), One Breath Gaming (2:0), 5MOKES (2:0) and KPI Gaming (2:0) to reach the finals of the qualifier. In the main match, the team again had to bounce back, but this time luck was on the side of FunPlus Phoenix, which turned out to be stronger than Natus Vincere (3:2) in a dramatic duel.
