Meet the updated LCS 2021!
Yuriy SheremetRiot Games has already begun preparations for the next League of Legends competitive season. The company has published the rules of the American franchise league LCS 2021, and we have collected for you the most interesting details of the upcoming season.
LCS Lock In is a new format in the LCS league. This is a three-week tournament in which the challenger team will be determined. She needs to be defeated in 2021. As a prize, the winner of the LCS Lock In receives fame, honor and $ 150,000.
In 2021, there are three matches in LCS for us to play. We will watch 5 games every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The regular itself will still be divided into two parts, but the spring and summer split will be combined into the LCS Champioship, which will be held at the end of summer.
Spring split playoffs transformed into LCS Mid-Season Showdown. The winner will earn the title of first LCS champion and the right to defend North America in the Mid-Season Invitational Finals.
Stage schedule
- The LCS Lock In (January 15 - 31)
Will be held from 15 to 31 January 2021. This is a three-week tournament with division into groups in which last year's winner picks his opponent. Each group is played in Round Robin format for 4 days.
The Spring Split will start on February 5th and end on March 14th. Six weeks of epic battles. Matches on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The prize is the title of the first LCS champion in 2021 and a slot in the Mid-Season Showdown.
- Mid-Season Showdown (March 20 - April 11)
Will run from March 20 to April 11. At the tournament, the top 6 teams from the Spring Split will compete for a slot at the Mid-Season Invitational.
- Summer Split Regular Season (June 4 - August 1)
The summer split will run from June 4th to August 1st. Eight teams in 9 weeks battle for the title of second LCS champion in 2021. The winner will be honored to represent North America at the World Championship.
- LCS Championship (August 7-21)
In the final stage of the year, the title of the best LCS team will be determined, and 3 slots will be drawn at Worlds 2021. The stage will be played in a double-elimination format with 8 teams.
