LCP 2026 Season Reveal: New Formats, Guest Teams, and Revolutionary Point System
LCP has officially announced significant league updates for 2026, with the LCP Winter Split scheduled to begin on January 16. The competition will expand to include two guest teams - Deep Cross Gaming and Ground Zero Gaming.
The formats for the first and second splits are identical: a single round-robin regular season featuring bo3 matches, followed by a hybrid elimination playoff bracket with bo5 series. In this system, teams are distributed between the upper and lower brackets based on their performance.
For the third split, the regular season will transition to a Swiss stage format. The subsequent playoffs will follow a traditional double elimination structure with bo5 matches.
Perhaps the most notable change is the introduction of a new Championship Points system. Unlike previous iterations, points will now be added or deducted after every single match played. This ensures that even late-season regular matches, which might not alter tournament standings, still carry significant weight for a team's overall seasonal ranking.
