G2 Esports — the first European team to qualify for MSI 2025 and Esports World Cup 2025
At LEC Spring 2025, G2 Esports officially secured their spot at the Mid-Season Invitational 2025, becoming the first team from the European league to qualify for the international stage. This achievement came after a convincing 3–1 victory over MKOI in the upper bracket final, where G2 demonstrated exceptional teamwork, high-level gameplay, and a clear determination to dominate on the global scene.
The journey isn’t over yet for MKOI — they’ve dropped to the lower bracket final, where they’ll await their next opponent. With one MSI spot still up for grabs, they’ll have a final chance to reach the grand final and claim the second ticket to the event.
Interestingly, G2 Esports and MKOI only placed third and fourth during the group stage, but managed to defeat Karmine Corp and Fnatic, the first and second seeds respectively. This once again proves how unpredictable playoff brackets can be — raw statistics don’t always tell the full story.
At LEC Spring 2025, teams are not just competing for a share of the €80,000 prize pool, but also for qualification to two major international tournaments — MSI 2025 and the Esports World Cup 2025. Both finalists from LEC Spring will receive direct invites to these events, which serve as critical stepping stones on the road to Worlds 2025. They offer a rare opportunity to battle the best teams from around the globe and gain invaluable experience on the international stage.
