G2 Esports is the first team to qualify for the 2022 World Championship

The G2 Esports team has qualified for the 2022 World Championship, becoming the first known participant in the competition, which will be held in the fall in the United States and Mexico. Now the team will have to compete for seeding, trying their luck for a direct ticket to the group stage of the world championship.

Thanks to the victory over Misfits Gaming in the previous round of LEC Summer 2022, the European team secured a place in the playoffs, scoring enough points to qualify for the 2022 World Championship ahead of schedule.

The 2022 World Championship will take place from September 29 to November 5 in Mexico and the United States. The Play-In stage will take place from September 29 to October 4 at the Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico City, and the group stage will take place from October 7-10 and October 13-16 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. As part of the championship, 24 teams from all over the world (excluding the CIS) will compete for a total prize pool of $2,225,000.

The championship will begin with a preliminary stage, in which 12 out of 24 teams will take part:

  • China (LPL) is the team that took 4th place in the split.
  • South Korea (LCK) is the team that finished 4th in the split.
  • Europe (LEC) - teams that took 3rd and 4th places in the split.
  • North America (LCS) is the team that finished 3rd in the split.
  • South East Asia (PCS) is the team that took 2nd place in the split.
  • Vietnam (VCS) is the team that took 2nd place in the split.
  • Brazil (CBLOL) - Team 1st in Split
  • Japan (LJL) – team that finished 1st in the split
  • Latin America (LLA) - 1st place team in the split
  • Oceania (LCO) - the team that took 1st place in the split.
  • Turkey (TCL) is the team that took 1st place in the split.
