LPL Summer 2022 - today's digest

Add as a Preferred Source

Warm greetings to all eSports lovers! In this article, I will collect all the most basic and interesting information about the results of today's continental league and, accordingly, League of Legends Summer Split 2022. And if you didn't have time to watch the games yourself, this is a good opportunity to learn about the details quickly and in detail!

Summer, like any other splits, traditionally opened China instead of with its LPL Summer 2022. This is due to the fact that China is much larger than other regions in terms of the number of teams, as many as 17, when the standard is 10. And, accordingly, the group stage should be held faster.

The first competitive week of the Celestial Summer Split started on Friday and will take up all three remaining days, and therefore will be the shortest and calmest in relation to the rest of the period until the playoffs.

Today, Invictus Gaming played Weibo Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix playedEdward Gaming. Both meetings ended with a score of 2 - 1 in favor of the favorites, that is, WBG and EDG.

For many, it was obvious that the favorites of these confrontations were head and shoulders above their opponents, and the fact that each of them gave away one card was already a bit of a surprise. It can be seen that not even the top teams that finished Spring at the bottom of the standings managed to relax, gather strength and show us a decent game.

Popular and interesting peaks

The most picked champions of the first day were Viego (5 games), Ahri, Vuknog and, attention, Kalista (4 games each). And if the first three champions do not raise any questions and can often be found in public games, then along with a major balance update in the recent patch 12.10, Kalista has clearly become stronger among the shooters. And on the professional stage she shows herself even better - she won 3 out of 4 games. The only champion to beat her is Ahri, the storm of the ranked queue, with a 100% win rate in 4 games. Oddly enough, before it was more bypassed on the pro scene, but now they have begun to take it, after a series of weakenings.

The most hated champions to stay in bans were Gwen, Lucian, Swain (5 games each) and Azir (4 bans).

From unusual peaks, several points can be distinguished at once. Let's start with Sett's support with FPX's Ice Growth rune on the first map. Flandre from EDG rolled out his signature Vladimir to the top lane on the last map, whom we saw only once in the entire LPL Spring 2022, both then and now - without losing. Another unpopular pick in China's pro scene, which was also seen only once in Spring, is Wai in the woods, again from EDG.
