A new week of regular season DPC 2023: EEU Upper Division Tour II games begins in Eastern Europe. The importance of the games is hard to overestimate, with the trains for the second major of the season - The Berlin Major 2023 - at stake, and it is not yet completely clear who will take the vacant spots in the top 3.

One of the main contenders for the trip to Germany before the season kicked off was the BB club, who will face off against Vp. Previously, such a clash would not have caused any excitement, but in the second round it plays with new colours.

The BB Team approach the game on the 3rd line of the standings. The team has 3 wins in 5 matches.

Vp, eliminated from the race for the top 3 in the last round, are on the 4th line in the new one, but adjusted for the number of matches played. The team has only played 3 games and has a 2-1 statistic.

Let's try to figure out if the BB Team can move higher in the standings and get into the top 3 or if Vp get involved in the competition for a spot in the Berlin majors.

BB Team Form

Let's approach the match with a look at the BB Team's playing form. They are playing this match as favourites.

The bookmakers believe in the BB Team's success as a habit, and they do so, no matter how much, because of the odds. The odds of a BB victory are estimated at around 1.2.

Despite all of BB's adversity this season, and there's plenty of it, they're still a capable team with some pretty solid performers in terms of personal level of play. They are capable of running over weaker mixes on skill, which is what Vp remains.

Looks like the period of full dominance by skill alone has passed. BB now need to play as a team, and there are a lot of problems with that. They are too egocentric team.

However, it's not just the team moments that are a problem. Even in the BB team roles they fall apart from game to game: at least remember the game with HR, where BB terribly stole someone else's pick, and Toronto played as a typical high-five player, but not as a TOP-1 team in Eastern Europe.

BB Team performance

The BB Team galloped through Eastern Europe last season. The team managed to win all 7 matches and 7 games played.

The team did not participate in any side events, fully devoting themselves to preparing for the Lima Major 2023. The training for the first major event of the season did not give any results.

At the Lima Major 2023, the BB Team showed a dismal performance and failed to advance beyond the group stage. The team lost the final match of the card against Geek Slate, which prevented them from playing tie-breaks to qualify for the lower net playoffs.

In the first game of the new DPC round, BB Team played against NaVi. The match ended 2-0, although NaVi struggled a bit on the first map and at one point took the lead, but they were in trouble going into the midgame.

Next, BB played Spirit and there was the first looser. After winning the first map, the team must have relaxed, for the next two were dictated by Spirit, and BB got the first loss.

Next, BB faced One Move. It seems that the star team did not have enough time to recover from the defeat of their crucial rival, which in turn led to their defeat on one of the maps.

The next game brought new problems for BB. HR shut down the BB with absolute ease on two maps, literally outclassing them.

BB Team Heroes

BB's most frequent pick is Death Prophet. The character has appeared in games 13 times and has a 61% win rate.

Rubick (12 games, 58% wins) and Leshrac (11 games, 72% wins) are highly popular.

In addition to the above characters, Clockwerk (11 games, 72% wins), Treant Protector (9 games, 66% wins) and Hoodwink (9 games, 66% wins) have appeared in BB drafts.

VP Form

The BB Team will be facing off against the Vp. The club will play as the underdog.

The odds of a BB Team win are estimated at odds in the region of 4. Such disbelief on the part of the bookmakers is understandable.

In the new year, Vp have begun the process of "building" the team. This is a long time undertaking, and therefore the team is experiencing serious difficulties on its way.

There have been regular personnel changes in the Vp roster. They also took place at the start of the new round.

The idea to form a squad of 5 young and hot players was a bit sidetracked. The five called the battle-hardened Fng, who apparently took over as captain.

The new Vp roster has now played a few games, from which it is rather difficult to judge the state of affairs within the team. The squad is still comatose, but glimpses of the game are visible.

Vp's performance

DPC Virtus.pro finished in 4th place last round. The team finished last season 4-3, losing to all their direct competitors: BB, Spirit and HR.

Prior to the start of the first round, Vp played at BB's Xmas Show. There the team finished in 4th place.

After an "average" performance at DPC 2023: EEU Upper Division - Tour 1, the team played at BB Universe: Episode I - Comics Zone. The team failed the tournament, not with a bang, but finished in the top 8 without taking any prizes.

In the first match of DPC 2023: EEU Upper Division Tour II, Vp faced HR. The match ended predictably enough with a 2-0 in favour of HR.

Next, the team played against a major rival, Darkside. The latter are "not here" this season, and the match against Vp was also "not here": 2-0 in favour of the latter.

In the third game they faced One Move. So far, Vp's only bo3 of the new season ended 2-1 in their favour.

Vp Heroes.

The most selectable character for Vp is Disruptor. The hero has played 3 matches and won all 3 games.

Next are Snapfire, SLark and Ember Spirit with 2 appearances each. All 3 heroes have a 100% win rate.

Beastmaster, Nature`s Prophet, Tidehunter and Rubick also appeared twice. All but Rubick have brought Vp 1 win each, and the latter has not won once.

History of personal confrontations

Last season BB Team easily shut down Vp 2-0, however the latter had a drastically different line-up then.

This encounter has all the makings of a full-fledged bo3. BB Team are no longer as unscrupulous as they were last season.

The team can be beaten at the draft stage, and fng should help with that. I'm sure Vp are capable of taking the BB card and that will be my bet.
