Match Prediction: Team Spirit - Virtus.pro | Dota 2

We continue to review what is happening within the top division of the DPC 2023: EEU Upper Division. Next up is the final match of the second game day of the last week of the season between Team Spirit and Virtus.pro.

The duel, without exaggeration, is critically important. A ticket to the Major is at stake.

Team Spirit will come to the match sharing the first line of the standings with BB Team. Spirit have not lost a single match, go through the tournament with a score of 5-0 and, if they win, go to Lima.

Virtus.pro are on the 4th line of the tournament table with 3-2 statistics. An average result, but a victory against Spirit will leave VP with a chance to qualify for Lima Major 2023.

We figure out which of the teams will fulfill their plan to the maximum and win the match.

Team Spirit Uniform

Let's start the review of the match with an analysis of the form of Team Spirit. They will be the favorite in this fight.

Bookmakers are unequivocal in their opinion. For them, Team Spirit is a clear winner, and the odds for such an outcome are at the level of 1.2.

What else to expect from the assessment of a team that has not lost a single series, and once in an almost identical composition became the champions of The International. However, some doubts about Spirit remain.

All of them are somehow tied to the composition of Team Spirit. They made personnel changes in the transfer window and now the team is in the process of adaptation.

It goes well, but not smoothly. During the tournament, Spirit stumbled many times, losing maps where they shouldn't have.

Team Spirit Performance

Team Spirit played within the first division of Eastern Europe. There they outperformed all their counterparts at regular intervals.

In the first round of the DPC 2021/2022 EEU - Division 1 Team Spirit took first place, to then take second place at the DPC EEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division 1: Playoff. In between draws, Spirit took 4th place at GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Dubai 2022.

In the middle of the year, Spirit visited the first major of the season - ESL One Stockholm 2022. There, Team Spirit took 9-12th place, which did not quite synergize with regional tournaments.

In the third season of the DPC EEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division 1. The decline has already begun, but Spirit quickly returned to service: 2nd place at the Riyadh Masters 2022 and a victory at PGL Arlington Major 2022 made Spirit one of the main favorites of the upcoming The International 2022.

The tournament itself turned out to be a total disappointment for the Dragons. Last year's champions flew to the TOP-16.

Before the start of DPC 2023, Team Spirit played BB Xmas Show. At the BB Xmas Show, Team Spirit reached the grand final almost without any problems, but lost in the decisive confrontation. Lost in the fight, with a score of 2-3.

Team Spirit's first encounter at DPC 2023 was a match against NaVi. Despite the nominal and actual advantage, Spirit lost the first map without a chance, but in the end they managed to close the series with a score of 2-1.

Then Spirit played against One Move. What was supposed to end with an unconditional victory for Spirit dragged on into a full-fledged b3 with a hassle, but a victory for Spirit.

In the third series, Spirit played against Nemiga. Another passing opponent, but another bo3 series.

The fourth game against Darkside followed the old pattern. The match against Ramzes' team ended on the third map, in favor of TS.

In the fifth game Spirit met with HellRaisers and finally we saw those same Spirits. The team showed their spirit and without problems closed the series with a score of 2-0, leaving behind one of the main competitors for a ticket to Lima.

The most frequent guest of Team Spirit picks are Rubick, Pangolier and Tiny. Characters appeared in 8 games, while winning 62% of the time.

Centaur is also extremely successful (7 games, 100% win rate), Enchantress appeared in 6 matches and won 5 of them, Clockwerk was picked 6 times with a win rate of 66%.

Form Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro will be on the opposite side of the Battlefield of the Ancients. The Bears will approach the game in the status of catching up.

Bookmakers look at VP without enthusiasm. The chance of their success is estimated by a coefficient in the region of 3.9.

However, it is worth noting that 3.9 for the current VP is not so bad. After the departure of the Outsiders roster, VP took the path of forced replacements and presented a completely renewed roster, consisting mainly of young players.

Virtus.pro roster

Such a vector of development has both its pluses and distinct minuses. Of the latter, one can note the laborious process of building team synergy and relationships between often ardent “stars”.

Let's just say that the fact that this roster has caught on to the TOP-4 is already good. Before the start of the tournament, I would not put the team in such a place. It will be more interesting if VP can still defeat Spirit and jump into the travel zone at the Lima Major. Then we would see the team's resistance to stress, but I don't think it will come to that.

Virtus.pro performance

The VP tag played mainly on D2CL and did not shine there with much success. The team won the 12th season, but then it went into the TOP-3 in tournaments from 8 to 11 seasons, which is not very significant.

Before the BetBoom Xmas Show, already in a new guise, VP took part in D2CL Season 17. The warm-up tournament with an objectively weak list of participants ended sadly for Virtus.pro.

As part of D2CL Season 17, VP took TOP-6, which is clearly far from optimal results. As part of the BetBoom Xmas Show, the team will get a chance to rectify the situation, but so far nothing hints at this.

In the first match of the playoffs, VP somehow got past PuckChamp, beating them 2-1. Then there was a match against Gaimin Gladiators and a loss with a score of 0-2, although not without a struggle on the first map.

Then there was the start of DPC 2023. The team started with a 0-2 defeat against BB Team, where former Virtus.pro performers play together with TORONTOTOKYO.

Later, VP met with Darkside, where there are also members of various iterations of VP (Ramzes and RodjER). The team turned out to be surprisingly ready for the match and closed the series with a score of 2-0.

In the third match, Virtus.pro played with Nemiga Gaming. Being the outsiders of that match, VP broke the pre-match statistics for the second time and outplayed the favorite.

In the fourth game, Virtus.pro faced HellRaisers. The higher class opponent left no chances for the “bears” and they naturally lost with a score of 0-2.

Before the match with Spririt, Vitrus.pro played against One Move. The penultimate team in the standings lost with a score of 0-2 and gave VP hope for a brighter future.

Virtus.pro's most picked character remains Disruptor (9 matches, 55% win rate). On the heels of the thunderer is Undying (8 matches, 50% of wins).

Also chosen by VP are Shadow Fiend (4 matches, 75% win rate), Silencer (4 matches, 50% win rate), Lina (4 matches, 50% win rate).

History of personal confrontations

Previously, the teams did not play official matches with each other in the new season. The match within the top division of Eastern Europe will be the debut derby.

Match outcome

In this fight, I can't believe in Virtus.pro. Even with all the minuses of Spirit, which certainly exist this season, the “dragons” look a few goals stronger.

In the match for the Spirit slot, they will choke. For green VPs, this pressure stress will be critical.
