Dota 2 Patch 7.40c

Recently, Valve have become significantly more active and, in addition to releasing a major update and a new hero, have already rolled out a second lettered patch. Patch 7.40c introduced balance adjustments and bug fixes, and we will go over the main changes in this update.

The first important thing to note is the nerfing of strong heroes and the buffing of weaker ones. One of the main imbalances of the previous patch, Clinkz, had the damage dealt by his skeletons to towers reduced by 75%, which will prevent them from being destroyed so quickly. Broodmother was also slightly nerfed, although the hero will still remain effective. The same applies to Viper.

Among the heroes that received buffs are Grimstroke, Brewmaster, Largo, Monkey King, and Terrorblade.

In addition, Valve added the ability to play Largo in Captain’s Draft, which is unusual, as the previous hero, Kez, was added to this game mode almost a year after release.

Patch 7.40c also fixed several in-game bugs. A bug was fixed that allowed Medusa, with Lifestealer inside her, to gain infinite health by purchasing Heart of Tarrasque and becoming the target of Shadow Demon’s Disseminate ability with the Promulgate aspect. A bug was fixed where Clinkz’s Infernal Shred ability pierced more armor than intended. Another bug was fixed where Morphling with Aghanim’s Scepter, transformed into Monkey King, could infinitely create soldiers from the Wukong’s Command ability.

Although updates like this do not have a major global impact on the game, they are still important, as they help keep Dota 2 feeling fresh.
