On September 4, the main Dota 2 tournament of the year, The International 2025, began. In the second round of the Group Stage, the match Team Spirit vs Xtreme Gaming drew the attention of the gaming community. The Chinese team sensationally defeated the two-time The International champions with a score of 2-1.

Map 1: Easy Victory for Xtreme Gaming

Team Spirit can be considered the main favorite to win TI 2025. The team claimed victories at The International 2021 and 2023 and is one of the strongest teams in recent years. No one expected Xtreme Gaming to win this match, but the Chinese team managed to surprise everyone.

Although the start of the game was not very successful, Xtreme Gaming caught up with their opponents thanks to successful team fights at the 10-11 minute mark. From that moment, the Chinese squad built up their advantage and held it until the end of the game, winning with a score of 29-11 in 39 minutes.

Map 2: A Boring Game and a Win for Team Spirit

The second map of this match turned out to be one of the least dynamic on the first day of play. The teams played very cautiously in terms of positioning and spent most of the time farming. Team Spirit’s carry Yatoro handled this best. Playing Templar Assassin, once he obtained the necessary items, he was able to help his team win several fights and finished the game with a score of 6-0-3. Team Spirit won with a score of 14-9, with the match lasting 35 minutes.

Map 3: Xtreme Gaming Make a Sensation

Few expected such a high-quality performance from Xtreme Gaming. The Chinese team continued their strong play into the third map. Both teams started very cautiously again, with almost no dangerous moments, focusing mainly on farming and gaining levels.

It is worth noting the high level of support play from Xtreme Gaming; they assisted the team very effectively, placed smart wards, and tracked the opponents’ movements. Xxs on Batrider played a key role in this match, finishing with a stat line of 6-6-24.

Xtreme Gaming began to pull ahead in the midgame, and by the 30-minute mark, the team had a net worth advantage of over 20k gold. Team Spirit did not look like themselves and played below their usual level. Xtreme Gaming won with a score of 37-18, with the match lasting 39 minutes.
