VAC-Banned Player Competes at CCT Series 8: How Is This Even Possible?

While most Dota 2 fans were tuning in to watch NaVi vs RABOTYAGI at the CCT Series 8, an unexpected detail raised more than a few eyebrows in the community — and not without reason.

A Player With VAC Ban Status on Liquipedia

One of RABOTYAGI's players, asdekor_r, is currently listed on Liquipedia with a status of VAC Banned. Yes, that’s right — VAC Banned. This status typically indicates that a player has been caught cheating in a Valve game, and it's not something to be taken lightly.

Yet, somehow, this player is participating in an official match at a well-known tournament. How is this allowed? Was there no verification? No rule enforcement?

Not the First Time?

What's more troubling is that this is not an isolated case. RABOTYAGI — with the same player — previously took part in the DreamLeague Season 26 qualifiers . That’s two major events where the integrity of the competitive scene might be at risk.

The Big Questions

  • Should tournament organizers take stricter measures in player vetting?
  • Does a VAC ban in another Valve title automatically disqualify someone from Dota 2 tournaments?
  • Is there a loophole being exploited here?

The lack of transparency and regulation around this issue is fueling community concerns. As esports continues to professionalize, situations like this shake trust in tournament integrity and fairness.

Do you think players with VAC bans — regardless of the game — should be allowed to participate in professional Dota 2 tournaments?
