Fan Clubs have been updated in Dota 2
Yuriy SheremetOn the night of January 6, Dota 2 released a large-scale esports update. Along with the announcement of the venues for the DPC 2023 major tournaments, Valve introduced an update to the fan bundles and started the new season of the Fantasy League.
Fan clubs
To maintain the viability of organizations in the DPC ecosystem, Valve is updating the format of support clubs. Teams that submit content for inclusion in the Fan Club Pack receive 50% of all package sales for their team.
Fans who choose to support teams will receive more content provided by their favorite teams based on the level they have acquired:
Bronze Level
- Favorite team icon that will appear on your friends list, player profile, loading screen, and in-game scoreboard (replaceable if purchased for more than one team).
- 1 team fantasy set of players.
- 1 base fantasy player set.
Silver Level
- All the privileges of the Bronze Club.
- Sprays to spice up your map and loading screens.
- 2 additional sets of team player cards.
- 6 additional basic sets of player cards.
Gold Level
- All the privileges of the Bronze and Silver Clubs
- A special in-game health bar icon, as well as emoticons and chat wheel phrases.
- 3 additional sets of team player cards.
- 7 additional basic sets of player cards.
Among other things, the new season of the Fantasy League starts in the game. The basic rules remain the same: you need to assemble a team of two base players, one mid player and two supports from the card pool. Silver and gold cards earn more Fantasy Points.
Fantasy DPC 2023
If you're new to fantasy or would like to be reminded of yourself, read this review before you unpack your cards and play. You can also check the How to Play breakdown in the FANTASY section of the client for full details.
Player Card Packs
All players have been given 10 starter kits, which can be obtained from the DPC menu under the Overwatch tab. Additional Player Card Packs can be earned daily by winning a Dota game. Team kits will be available for purchase directly from the PLAYER CARDS tab in the OBSERVATION section, as teams will be introducing their Fan Club kits in the near future.
When you open a set, you will receive player cards from the specific region you have chosen.
Regional fantasy
Each DPC region is its own fantasy league with its own player cards and unique roster. You can take part in several regional leagues and you will earn fantasy levels based on your best performance in the fantasy league during the period. For example, if you are in the top 10% of one league and the top 50% of another league, you will earn points for the top 10% placement. Region rewards are not cumulative.
At the end of each period, you will receive levels based on the Fantasy Points for that period. Rewards will be unlocked based on your current overall fantasy level.
Fantasy points matches
All Division I matches during the 2023 Winter Tour are available for fantasy play. The two best-scoring games out of the three with the most points count towards the player's score. If a team plays more than one streak in a period, only its scoring streak counts.
Players with 100%/50%/25%/10% of the best results will receive 1/2/3/4 fantasy levels. Each level gives 350 shards, and every fourth level doubles the prize to 700 shards.
Once your lineups are set up, be sure to keep an eye on any upcoming activity in the client's Watch section or on the DPC homepage.
As a reminder, the DPC Winter Tour 2023 began on December 11, 2022. Games in 6 competitive regions will be held through February 19, and the cycle will end with a major in Lima, hosted by 4D Esports. The last one will be held from February 24 to March 5.
