Match Prediction: Complexity Gaming - G2 Esports | CS2 (CS:GO)
ESL Pro League Season 18Hello again. Nice to see you on EGamersWorld.
The big CSGO event continues. ESL Pro League Season 18 hasn't gone anywhere, and The International is the most exciting thing ahead.
Even though the group stage is back on the screens, we're getting close to the key match of Group D. And what a match it is.
G2 Esports and Complexity will play for seeding in the play-offs. It was hard to imagine such a pair of the best teams of the basket D before the Long Round of the tournament, but here they are.
Let's find out who will be stronger in the match for seeding in the ESL Pro League Season 18 play-offs. The winner goes straight to the quarter-finals of the main stage, while the loser will play in the second round of the play-offs.
Let's go.
G2 Esports uniforms
We start the match analysis with an analysis of G2 Esports' form. In this match, the club plays the first number one.
Best esports betting sites are confident in the victory of G2 Esports. The odds for their success are at around 1.2.
It is not hard to believe in this state of affairs. G2 Esports is a top-level team and Complexity will find it extremely difficult to compete with such a formidable opponent.
Almost all year long, G2 Esports have not left the podiums of major championships. Their rise as a top team started with BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 and IEM Katowice 2023. Both championships G2 passed confidently and at two tournaments they deservedly became champions.
Next, the "samurai" were stormy. Last season ESL Pro League Season 17 G2 Esports finished on the 9-12 line, which is clearly not the level of the team that recently won Katowice 2023.
After a frankly weak performance at EPL Season 17 G2 Esports played at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. In Paris, NiKo and company had a real fiasco, as the tournament for them ended at the TOP-14 stage, which certainly did not fit into G2's plans.
- G2 Esports line-up: huNter, NiKo, m0NESY, jks, HooXi.
Prior to ESL Pro League Season 18, G2 Esports made their mark on several other major tournaments. These were BLAST Premier: Spring Finals and Fall Groups, where G2 took top 4 and top 8 respectively.
Next up was IEM Cologne 2023 and finally a win. In the Grand Final they beat ENCE 3-1, thus taking another IEM title for the year.
The last championship was Gamers8. The biggest commercial tournament of the season ended with G2 Esports in the top 4.
G2 Esports started off ESL Pro League Season 18 with a betting tirerable win. They beat Lynn Vision 2-0 in their opening match, but to be fair, they were close to a fiasco on the first map.
In the match to advance to the Group A finals, G2 Esports played against Virtus.pro. Not without problems, but the "samurai" defeated Vp with a score of 2-1.
G2 Esports Mappool
The main map of G2 is Ancient. There G2 played 8 matches, of which they won 6.
Then comes Anubis (3 games, 2 wins), Vertigo (5 matches, 3 wins), Inferno (12 matches, 58% wins).
G2 Esports has no minus winnings on mapx. Among the "worst" choices are Nuke (7 matches, 4 wins), Mirage (4 wins, 4 losses).
Complexity Form
We continue the match analysis by analysing Complexity's game form. In this match the Americans play the second number.
This is indicated by the bookmakers. The odds for the victory of the Americans are at around 4.
However, even this indicator is already good for Complexity. The residents of the North American scene did not give any hope before the Long Segment of the tournament, but they are looking surprisingly brisk in the course of EPL Season 18.
Complexity are on the 18th line of the world ranking. They got there thanks to their performance during the season.
And it was, frankly speaking, so bad. CoL were remembered for their top 4 at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: American RMR.
At the top tournaments, including the Blast Paris Major 2023, CoL were the back of the pack. The team finished in the top 21-28 at EPL S17, and at Major e it was top 20.
CoL started playing a little better in the second half of the year. They were already top six at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023.
- Complexity lineup: EliGe, JT, floppy, hallzerk, Grim
The "newcomer" to CoL is EliGE. The North American CSGO legend joined CoL a month ago, but has already managed to become the leader of the team in KDA with 1.10 rating.
Complexity played at IEM Masters Cologne 2023, where they finished early. CoL crashed out at the Long Cogner Play-In, losing to OG and finishing in the top 24.
CoL partially overcame their failure by winning the local Thunderpick World Championship 2023: North America Series #2. They defeated Nouns in the grand finals.
In the first match at the EPL S18 Complexity faced 9INE. The Poles put up a good fight, but couldn't pull out a win - the result was 2-1 in favour of CoL.
In the match to come here Complexity surprised, perhaps, everyone. They ran over Cloud9 with an ice rink, closing the series 2-0 in their favour.
Complexity's Mappool
Complexity's mappool is pretty sad. The most successful map is Overpass with 5 wins in 9 matches.
They can also play Nuke, Ancient and Anubis. But they have 33% wins each, with a very poor record of 6 and 3 maps respectively.
Head-to-head history
Earlier the teams played each other during BLAST.tv Paris Major: Challenger Stage. Then G2 celebrated the victory in Bo1.
Predicted result of the match G2 Esports - CoL at ESL Pro League Season 18
Complexity have already jumped above their heads in this tournament and seem ready to give a fight to G2. The latter, by the way, are not in prime form, so the Americans may succeed. Or maybe they won't. I'm in favour of the second option.
Still, CoL have already reached their goal maximum, as far as I'm concerned, but G2 are fighting for the title at the tournament, so they must go to the quarterfinals of EPL S18. I think they will seriously prepare for CoL and close those with 2-0.
Bottom line: 2-0 win for G2.
A meeting between the highly anticipated G2 team.
and the universally unexpected Complexity.
The meeting should be really very interesting. The American team showed a real game. Fighting for every round, and most importantly knocking out the Clauds with a score of 2:0, shocked everyone.
As for G2, the team from the very beginning showed unpreparedness to the team from China. Almost losing the first map (Chinese choice), G2 gathered on Inferno and demolished the opponent. In my opinion, the French, just unexpected such a game from "lyon", and sprinkled after bold decisions from the Chinese. Yes, G2 got together in time and won the map without overtime.
Next was the game against "Virtus.pro" Not a bad start on Mirage, and a terrible game on Inferno. The result was 1:1 after two maps. The final map was more or less easy for G2. The French team was able to win the Bears, thus securing a playoff spot.
MAP SELECTION
The Americans ban Mirage first and try to play Anubis throughout the tournament.
G2, always ban Overpass and always choose Inferno.
In my opinion the teams will play: Mirage, Inferno and either Ancient or Nuke.
TOTAL.
Looking at these cards, I would like to take G2's head-to-head (-1.5), but I still have a slight feeling that G2 will be weird on Inferno (as they usually like to do), so I suggest just taking G2's win.
Bookmakers & Statistics
G2 Esports are listed as the favorites of the match in the majority of bookmakers and odds on them are equal to 1.203. Complexity Gaming, in turn, are the outsiders of the match. Odds on their victory are about 6.067.
