Spirit sweep Falcons and become the first team to reach the Budapest Major 2025 semifinals
Spirit confidently defeated Falcons 2:0 in the opening quarterfinal of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, securing their spot in the semifinals and extending their flawless run at the tournament. The team dominated on Nuke and pulled off a dramatic comeback on Dust2, where newcomer zweih emerged as the standout performer. Falcons finished their run in the top 8, while NiKo once again fell short of capturing his first Major trophy.
Nuke (13:4 Spirit)
On the first map, Spirit looked extremely convincing. Falcons repeatedly attempted to hit the B site, but those executes brought little success. Spirit defended with confidence, closing the first half 8:4 in their favor. In the second half, Spirit left no chance for Falcons, stringing together five attacking rounds in a row and securing a dominant 13:4 victory.
Dust2 (16:12 Spirit)
On Dust2, Falcons managed to find their footing. They started on the CT side and, despite Spirit’s early streak, finished the half down just 7:5. In the second half, Falcons took control and pushed the score to 11:5. It seemed the series would head to the decider on Ancient, but after a tactical timeout, Spirit responded with a streak of five rounds. Falcons still reached map point, but a clutch ACE by zweih in the final crucial round forced overtime — where Spirit crushed their opponents and closed out the map 16:12, winning the series 2-0.
Match MVP
The best player of the match was Spirit’s rookie zweih, playing his first Major. He finished the quarterfinal with an impressive 1.59 rating.
