During the G2 Esports vs MOUZ match, a fight broke out on stage! Details are available here
Danil ChepilDuring the G2 vs MOUZ match at the Major in Copenhagen, unknown individuals attempted to storm the stage, leading to a brawl! According to HLTV, these individuals were protesting against G2's partnership with an online casino. One of the guys got hit on the head by the trophy.
Details of the fight on stage at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024:
During the second map of the match, activists who had previously criticized G2 for partnering with the gambling site CSGORoll stormed onto the stage, where the teams and trophy were located. As a result, the first-place trophy was damaged, and one of the individuals who rushed onto the stage was hit on the head by it.
Before all this, leaflets calling for a boycott of the European club G2 due to their partnership with an online casino are being distributed at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
G2 is promoting CSGORoll, a verified criminal organisation, that scams their users - through their partnership, orchestrated between Alban Dechelotte (G2's CEO) and Killian McKeon-Eccles (Owner of CSGORoll), G2 has been paid millions to knowingly advertise a fraudulent, unlicensed and illegal casino, even going so far as to use a minor to advertise it to a mass audience of young people.
For this, we will be protesting against G2, through several means, until they take action - we want Alban Dechellote to take accountability and step down immediately from his role and for G2 to issue a statement announcing they're parting ways with CSGORoll (and why).
Even as of today, CSGORoll is actively marketing the G2 partnership on their website, profiting from G2's fanbase.
Dechellote is personally responsible for deceiving G2's fans and twisting words to describe what CSGORoll is, as can be proven by his abhorrent description of CSGORoll.
Adding skins in-game is a fun, interactive and cosmetic way to express yourself. You just need to watch how much a player like Ilya "mONESY" enjoys selecting his CS:GO skins to see it's an important part of his connection to the game. We are very excited to partner with CS:GO Roll enabling G2 fans to get a chance to earn the rare skin they always dreamed of" - Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2 Esports.
PGL commented on this situation on their Twitter account:
Our event experienced an attempted disruption. We temporarily halted the match to ensure everyone's safety. The individuals involved were removed by the police. We will be pressing charges against the disruptors.
A huge shout-out to our incredible crowd at last night's event! Your support and understanding during the unexpected disturbance were nothing short of amazing. It's in moments like these that the strength and unity of our community truly shine through. The way everyone handled the situation with calm and patience not only helped in resolving the matter quickly but also showcased the positive spirit of our attendees. We're beyond grateful to have such an understanding and supportive audience. Your cooperation made all the difference, and we can't thank you enough for being the best part of our event. Here's to many more events filled with the same kindness, support, and unity!
G2 Esports captain, Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, also commented on the incident. HooXi stated that he and his team will now be more cautious when interacting with fans.
Due to the events of todays game I and the rest of the team will not be as open as we usually are to fan interactions. This is for our own safety and security. It sucks but safety first. Thank you all for the support.
