Marathon Battle: MIBR Triumphs Over Evil Geniuses in Epic ESL Pro League Clash
Bogdan LashchenkoMIBR's journey at ESL Pro League is still alive as they prepare to face Monte once more, this time in a bid to secure a spot in the playoffs. After defeats to ENCE and MOUZ, MIBR found themselves relegated to the Group B last chance bracket. Despite these setbacks, they've demonstrated their potential by claiming a map against Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's squad and defeating MOUZ in their initial encounter.
In the series opener, MIBR delivered a stunning performance on Evil Geniuses' map pick, Ancient. They secured the first two rounds on the CT side, experienced a brief setback in the first gun round with inferior weaponry, and then launched an extraordinary onslaught.
The Brazilian squad dominated with thirteen consecutive rounds, including eleven on the CT side and two after switching sides, ultimately clinching a resounding 16-1 victory. Rafael "saffee" Costa was the lowest-rated player on MIBR with an impressive 1.30 rating, while insani led the charge with an outstanding 1.79 rating.
Evil Geniuses made a comeback on Mirage, showing strength on the CT side and establishing control. They secured a substantial 10-1 lead, providing a cushion before slightly faltering towards the end of the first half, allowing MIBR to claim three of the last four rounds.
However, in the second pistol round, the North Americans squandered a 5vs3 advantage, potentially a costly mistake. Evil Geniuses struggled to find their footing, losing the first seven rounds, resulting in an 11-11 deadlock. An ace by Jadan "HexT" Postma tilted the balance back in favor of Evil Geniuses.
The standoff persisted until the thirtieth round, leading to a double overtime. Despite MIBR's efforts to secure a remarkable comeback and victory with a 21-18 lead, it wasn't enough, and Evil Geniuses forced the series to Nuke.
In contrast to Mirage, Nuke saw the terrorists dictate the pace. Despite Evil Geniuses winning the knife round, MIBR secured the pistol round. Although it remained close early on, MIBR managed to establish a commanding 10-5 lead by halftime.
Evil Geniuses staged a comeback by winning a forcebuy early in their T-side, granting them an economic advantage. This allowed them to equalize the score.
Similar to Mirage, Nuke entered overtime, this time extending to a triple overtime. The marathon series reached the four-and-a-half-hour mark before MIBR sealed the deal, triumphing 25-22 and securing the win over Evil Geniuses.
