In a gripping showdown, 9z emerged victorious against M80, securing their place in the ESL Pro League Season 18 with a two-map victory. 9z Advances as M80 Exits ESL Pro League S18 1

After securing their first victory in Group C, 9z's in-game leader, Maximiliano "max" Gonzalez, reflected on their success, emphasizing their focus on self-improvement rather than their opponents. With this win, 9z now requires two more victories to secure a coveted playoff spot on Sunday, with their next challenge awaiting the loser of Apeks vs. fnatic.

On the other hand, this marks the end of M80's journey in Malta. Despite their valiant efforts, the North American team narrowly lost two maps with 14-16 scores against 9z and 5yclone, and they suffered an overtime defeat at the hands of Apeks. Ultimately, they finished the group stage in the last position.

The action kicked off with 9z choosing Nuke as their battleground, securing the pistol round win. Despite M80's resilience, including a remarkable 1vs3 clutch by David "dav1deuS" Tapia Maldonado, 9z managed to maintain a 6-0 lead on the offensive side. However, M80's adaptation to the Outside hold allowed them to make a comeback. Michael "Swisher" Schmid played a pivotal role in narrowing the gap, and M80 entered the second half just one round behind.

9z's strong start in the second half brought them to match point at 15-11, despite M80's efforts. Although they faced challenges in closing out the map, 9z ultimately secured it in the 30th round, leading to the transition to Inferno.

Inferno began with M80 winning the pistol round and establishing a 5-0 lead. Nevertheless, 9z fought back and equalized the score at five apiece. Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa was a standout player for M80, amassing 19 kills in the first half and emerging as the top fragger.

However, 9z staged a remarkable comeback on the CT side, preventing M80 from capitalizing on their pistol round conversion. This strong performance allowed 9z to level the score at 11-11 and ultimately secure a 16-13 victory on Inferno, ensuring their survival in Group C of the competition in Malta.
