All participants of the IEM Katowice 2023 group stage have been determined

The Play-In stage at IEM Katowice 2023 has ended, following which the teams Cloud9, Ninjas in Pajamas, BIG, OG, IHC Esports, fnatic, Complexity Gaming and Team Spirit advanced to the group stage of the tournament. In turn, the teams paiN Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Permitta Esports, Grayhound Gaming, MIBR, ENCE, Sprout and FURIA could not cope with the pressure, saying goodbye to the championship.

According to the results of the first gaming day, the teams Cloud9 and Ninjas in Pajamas went further, which on their way beat IHC Esports and ENCE, as well as MIBR and Team Spirit, respectively. Following them, the OG team got into the group stage, which got two victories over Sprout and fnatic. The last undefeated participant of the Play-In was the BIG team, which outplayed Complexity Gaming and FURIA.

The lower grid brought some loud surprises. First of all, the IHC Esports team, starting with a defeat from Cloud9, managed to sensationally outplay paiN Gaming and FURIA, getting into the main part of the tournament. The North American team Complexity Gaming also created a sensation, which, after losing to BIG on the first day of the competition, turned out to be stronger than Permitta and ENCE.

The teams fnatic and Team Spirit also made it to the group stage, which had enough wins over MIBR and Sprout in the lower bracket of the Play-In, respectively.

IEM Katowice 2023 takes place from 1 to 12 February in Katowice at the Spodek Arena. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and Latin America, Asia and Oceania are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,000,000, as well as a ticket to IEM Cologne 2023 for the winner.
