Tournament sensation: FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pajamas are eliminated from IEM Rio Major 2022

The third round of IEM Rio Major 2022 Legends Stage has come to an end, which managed to present several high-profile sensations at once. First of all, the teams FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pajamas suffered their third defeats and said goodbye to the chances for the championship. Secondly, the teams Cloud9 and FURIA became the first participants in the playoffs of the competition, having won the third victory in the "legends". Well, according to tradition, we propose to sum up the results of the last round and present the intermediate table of the championship.

Third round of IEM Rio Major 2022 Legends Stage

The game day started with the final BO1 matches. In the first case, the North American Team Liquid managed to make a miracle comeback and outplayed Natus Vincere (16:14). In a parallel match, MOUZ snatched victory from Team Vitality (19:17) on the Mirage map. Next, fnatic outplayed ENCE very confidently (16:7), as well as the Outsiders got the hardest victory over Team Spirit (16:14) on the Dust 2 map.

In the first BO3 of the Legends stage, the Cloud9 team confidently defeated Heroic (2:0) and became the first participant in the playoffs. At the same time, Bad News Eagles created a sensation by outplaying FaZe Clan (2:1) and knocking out the reigning champion from the tournament. Then the Brazilians from FURIA staged a real carnival in the arena, as they beat BIG (2:0) and also made it to the playoffs. Well, at the very end of the game day, Sprout unexpectedly beat Ninjas in Pajamas (2:0), knocking out the Swedes from the championship.

IEM Rio Major 2022 takes place from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro convention center. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and South America, and Asia are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,250,000, ranking points in the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023 for the winner.
