Rooster, The MongolZ and TYLOO are left without a major - the teams are eliminated from the qualifiers for IEM Road to Rio 2022

The first day of closed qualifiers for IEM Road to Rio 2022 in Oceania, Central Asia and China has ended, as a result of which the teams Rooster, The MongolZ and TYLOO lost their chances to qualify for the Major. While matches in the Middle East continue, we decided to take stock of the first day of closed qualifiers for the Asian region as a whole.

Oceania

The ORDER team became the leader of the closed qualifier in Oceania, which first defeated Encore ESC (2:1), and then defeated DGG Esports (2:0). Well, the Rooster team had a chance to fly out of the qualifiers, which failed DGG Esports (1:2) and Encore ESC (0:2), thus being left without IEM Rio Major 2022.

middle Asia

The clear favorite of the closed qualifiers in Central Asia, sorry, Mongolia, was expectedly the IHC Esports team, which quickly outplayed The MongolZ (2:0) and Team NKT (2:0). In turn, The MongolZ team managed to leave the qualifiers, losing in a day to IHC Esports (0:2) and ARAVT (1:2).

China

The favorite of the closed qualifier in China was Lynn Vision, who managed to beat TYLOO (2:0) and Rare Atom (2:0), approaching the trip to IEM Rio Major 2022. In turn, the Chinese team TYLOO quite unexpectedly lost to Lynn Vision (0:2) and Wings Up Gaming (1:2), thus being left without a second Major in a row.

IEM Road to Rio 2022 Asia

IEM Road to Rio 2022 for Asia will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center in Melbourne. Four qualified teams (one from each sub-region) will play in front of an Australian public from 7 to 9 October.

The Asian RMR tournament will take place in the GSL format, with each match taking place in the BO3 series. The top two teams in the championship will receive Contender status. The remaining teams will not be able to play at IEM Rio Major 2022.


IEM Rio Major 2022 will be held from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil. The first two stages of the championship will be held in a studio format. However, the playoffs of IEM Rio Major 2022, which is scheduled for November 10-13, will be held at the Jeunesse Arena, which can accommodate from 15,000 to 22,000 people. Like at the last Major, the prize pool of IEM Rio Major 2022 will be $1,000,000.
