Team Spirit, 9z and Imperial Esports coaches will miss PGL Major Antwerp 2022 - they were banned by ESIC

Coaches of Team Spirit, 9z and Imperial Esports will miss PGL Major Antwerp 2022 - they were banned by ESIC. Information about the names of specialists who were caught using a coaching bug was shared by OverDrive. In addition, the Russian club Team Spirit managed to confirm the information by publishing a statement about the current situation.

Hally, peacemaker and zakk are coaches who should be removed from the major. There will be more coaches at the Major who had this bug, but ESIC decided to suspend only three specialists for now.

The day before, ESIC issued an official statement in which it confirmed the removal of three specialists from the upcoming championship from Belgium. This morning, the names of the coaches who will miss PGL Major Antwerp 2022 due to the ESIC ban were announced.

If the information about a possible peacemaker ban appeared more than a month ago, then the suspension of zakk and Hally - the coaches of 9z and Team Spirit, respectively - came as a surprise. Apparently, ESIC decided to remove only three coaches from participation. However, at the time of publication of the material, the Commission did not confirm or refute the information, nor did it publish a specific methodology according to which the coaches involved in the bug are separated.

In light of the current situation, the decision of ESIC becomes strange. If more than 50 coaches are accused during an investigation, why make a distinction between "before" and "after". The presence of the bug has been known for more than two years - the investigation was frozen for a year and a half. At the same time, before the start of PGL Major Antwerp 2022, ESIC is banning three specialists from the list, which probably includes louder names.

Thus, there is a practice of "double standards". If the final report actually includes specialists who participated in the major or performed at RMR tournaments, the competence of ESIC in this matter may be in serious doubt. Esports should not be delimited. If you ban - all at once. If you delay the punishment - to everyone and without exception in the name.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 will take place from 9 to 22 May at the Antwerps Sportpaleis in Belgium. The championship will feature 24 teams from all over the world who will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000, EPT and BLAST Premier ranking points, and a ticket to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022.
