According to the portal Dust2, Valve and PGL intend to hold RMR tournaments in mid-April. From sources familiar with the situation, it became known that tomorrow, February 10, the organizers plan to announce more detailed information about the three RMR tournaments in Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, which will act as qualifying championships for PGL Major Antwerp 2022, including dates and locations of events.

Earlier it became known that two RMR tournaments will be held in Europe before PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The following teams will take part in PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR A: Natus Vincere, Heroic, Virtus.pro, Team Vitality, Copenhagen Flames, Astralis and ENCE + nine teams from qualifiers. PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR B will feature: G2 Esports, Gambit Esports, Ninjas In Pajamas, Entropiq, FaZe Clan and MOUZ + ten teams from the qualifiers.

Based on information received by Dust2, all three RMR tournaments will take place in Europe and will be played over two weeks in mid-April, with the event for teams from North and South America directly conflicting with the schedule of BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2022, which will take place from 20 to 24 April.

The plans of Valve and PGL put the teams from the region in a difficult position, as BLAST intends to hold their tournament online with North American servers, which forces the teams to stay in North America. At the same time, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses and Complexity, as well as MIBR will take part in BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2022.

Notably, all four of these teams are BLAST partners, which means it will likely be difficult for them to back out of their commitments and miss out on the tournament.

BLAST is reported to have three variants:

  1. Holding BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2022 during ESL Pro League Season 15 (March-April).
  2. Holding BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2022 two weeks before the start of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. However, this option seems unlikely, since before the start of the main tournament of the first half of 2022, many teams will be busy with the training process and moving to the championship venue in Belgium.
  3. Holding BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2022 three weeks before the start of BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022. However, there is a risk that the championship will overlap with another event — IEM Dallas 2022.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 will be held from 9 to 22 May in Antwerp. The prize fund of the championship will be $1,000,000.
