Maksym YushytsynSpring 2020 has become a real boom for the gaming industry. It resulted from the coronavirus pandemic binding everybody to homes. It is not surprising that most people brighten up self-isolation with computer and mobile games. Let’s examine the most popular titles of the bygone month.
Rating of PC Games: May 2020 vs April 2020
Games for PC felt really great. Most people decided to compete at the quarantine. That is why Top-5 is represented by competitive disciplines:
- League of Legends. It is not a surprise to see this game in the first position. The MOBA game by Riot Games continues to keep the leadership. Daily online in LoL turned over 11 mln players. LoL has been taking a confident first place for a while: in April 2020 it also holds key positions among PC games;
- Rainbow Six: Siege. The second place is taken by the shooter by Ubisoft. More than 100 000 users of Steam play the game every day and more than 200 000 play Origin. In April 2020, the game also held the second position;
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The last leading place is taken by the shooter by Valve. Every day it was played by 900 000 players. The situation was the same in April 2020;
- Valorant. The new shooter by Riot Games has entered Top-5. The game went up to the first position in comparison to the indicators in April;
- Minecraft finishes Top-5 popular games. Since April 2020, Minecraft has been moved one position down but it is still one of the online leaders both in April and in May.
The situation did not change in May. In comparison to April, Top-5 has not been changed.

Mobile Games: May 2020 vs April 2020
The situation with mobile games is more interesting. Taking into account the huge competition in the market of mobile gaming, the position of Tops changes a lot. Three Best are the following:
- Township is an unconditional leader of the rating for both IOS and Android. In April, IOS users played Houseparty more often;
- Coin master/Ludo king. Users of Apple products played Coin Master more often in May while Android users played Ludo King. In April, Top-2 was taken by Fishdom and Garden Space;
- Roblox/Garena Free Fire. In May Roblox was in Top for IOS and Garena Free Fire was often downloaded on Android. In April, their positions were taken by Township for IOS and Ludo King for Android.
The mobile gaming market is very dynamic. It could be noticed with the changes in the Top. Every day the leading position is kept by different games and this situation stimulates the companies to release high-quality products.
Twitch Leaders: May 2020 vs April 2020
Not only the games are there. Streaming services have recently become popular among esports and gaming fans. Every day the popular platform Twitch gathers millions of gamers on their streams. In May, the Top on Twitch in the number of views looked in the following way.
- Valorant. The hype around this project could be called legendary for sure. In May, the game was watched by 145 million hours and in April this number was 345 (!) million;
- League of Legends. League of Legends took leading positions on Twitch. In May and April, the game held second place according to the number of viewed hours: 123 and 136 million hours respectively;
- The third leader is Fortnite. The battle royal by Epic Games was watched for 120 million hours in May and 98 in April.
We should also take a look at the success of not the most obvious titles. Twenty Leaders were also represented by Minecraft Dungeons and Terraria. The game of the Minecraft series rose 136 positions up and the recent update for Terraria helped her to climb 125 positions up.
