Gaming in the age of digitization - the revolution is imminent
Yuriy SheremetGaming is already going through a change and it can be assumed that there will be a kind of revolution in this area in the course of technological progress. The way we experience gaming today is hardly comparable to gaming a few decades ago, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. After all, it is currently the case that our everyday lives are significantly influenced by technology. But what does that actually mean for gaming?
Smartphones as a mobile console
Admittedly, the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony were a complete success. The demand is so high that there are still people waiting for their Xbox or PlayStation. However, there is another medium that has been playing a role for a long time and we are talking about the popular smartphone. Each of us can use his smartphone as a mobile console and benefit from location independence and a large selection of games. Whether it's slots at Comeon Germany, shooters like PUBG on Steam or classics like Candy Crush Saga - playing with the smartphone has now become a common practice. Smartphones can already take important market shares from popular consoles and PCs, and in a few years - if only because of cloud gaming - it should be significantly more.

XR technologies for an atmospheric experience
With a few exceptions, XR technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality did not trigger the expected hype. However, a few years ago the technologies were still in their infancy. That has changed in the meantime and in addition to games, XR technologies are also used in industry. In a few years, the new reality concepts should be a lot more mature. Immersing yourself in foreign gaming worlds should then be possible without any problems. So we can be curious what to expect.
Games in high-end resolution thanks to cloud gaming
At the moment, cloud gaming should only be known to a few people, because the technology is not yet mature due to the lack of IT infrastructure. However, the potential is enormous and as soon as the 5G network expansion has progressed, this should have a major impact on the further development of cloud gaming. The special feature of this gaming concept is that users select a game on a cloud or a server and both the audio and video signals are delivered. Graphically complex games - including online games with millions of users - would thus be made playable on a standard smartphone. Without 5G technology, however, the project cannot be implemented, which is why we will have to be patient for a few more years.
Cryptocurrencies as a payment option
There are more and more cryptocurrencies that are related to gaming and are intended for platforms like Steam, for example. In fact, cryptocurrencies were even used briefly on Steam and it cannot be ruled out that it will soon be that time again. In general, cryptocurrencies have the potential to act as in-game currency in various games or to be used to buy or sell games. Especially since cryptocurrencies have once again experienced a boom, which has also benefited their acceptance. That could drive the market forward in the long term.
