MIDA Description
MIDA is one of the key factions in Marathon, specializing in sabotage, subversion, and destabilization of infrastructure across the colonies of Tau Ceti IV. Its members are radical ideologues who oppose corporate control and aim to dismantle power structures using technology, explosives, and cyber attacks.
The faction originated from the political movement Martian Independence and Defense Alliance, which eventually evolved into a decentralized anarchist network. MIDA operates through mercenary agents known as Runners, who carry out sabotage missions, steal resources, and destroy strategic assets to advance the movement’s goals.
MIDA Quests (Contracts)
The MIDA faction in Marathon offers two main types of contracts: Standard Contracts and Priority Contracts.
Standard Contracts are repeatable missions that players can complete multiple times to earn faction reputation. These missions usually revolve around sabotage activities such as destroying infrastructure, planting malware in systems, using explosives to eliminate targets, locating coordinates of hidden resources, or opening special lockboxes. Completing these contracts rewards players with faction reputation, credits, and various resources or salvage.
Priority Contracts, on the other hand, are more significant and story-driven missions. These contracts are typically completed only once and have a much greater impact on faction progression. They grant a large amount of reputation, unique reward bundles, and often reveal additional lore about MIDA and its operations.
MIDA Upgrades
MIDA upgrades unlock as players increase their faction reputation. These upgrades provide passive bonuses that improve economy, heat management, looting speed, inventory capacity, and access to equipment. Each upgrade can be purchased with credits after meeting the required conditions.

MIDA Rewards (Bonuses)
After unlocking a certain number of nodes in the upgrade tree, players gain access to MIDA Capstone Bonuses in Marathon. These key bonuses unlock at major progression milestones and provide much stronger advantages than regular upgrades.
Among them are Claymore Mines, which allow players to control approaches to objectives and extraction points more effectively, Sponsored Kits that provide improved loadouts, Bubble Shields for additional protection during combat, and the ability to disarm enemy mines.
With these bonuses, MIDA gradually becomes one of the most dangerous factions for tactical gameplay, allowing players to control territory and set traps for opponents.
How to Play the MIDA Faction in Marathon — Tactical Guide

The MIDA playstyle in Marathon focuses on sabotage and territory control. This faction is best suited for players who use traps, explosives, and tactical gadgets to create dangerous zones and restrict enemy movement.
MIDA gameplay often involves mining extraction points, destroying infrastructure, and controlling choke points. Unlike the technology-focused faction Arachne or the more combat-oriented approach of Sekiguchi, MIDA relies on sabotage and creating situations where enemies are forced to move through unfavorable routes.
