Sekiguchi Marathon Faction: Contracts, Upgrades, Rewards

In Marathon, there are six factions, each with its own contracts, upgrades, and rewards. By completing contracts for different factions as a mercenary, you gain bonuses, seasonal upgrades, and access to unique gear. Among all Marathon factions, Sekiguchi stands out for its focus on resilience & survivability, meaning maximum efficiency in recovery, endurance, and long-term survival under hazardous conditions. Their contracts push exploration over combat dominance.
Sekiguchi — Description

Sekiguchi is one of the six main Marathon factions, focused on biological enhancement of the body, survivability, endurance, and resistance to injury and hazards.
Unlike techno-corporate or aggressive groups, this faction does not promote ruthless confrontations or high-speed PvP skirmishes. Instead, Sekiguchi encourages methodical raids, high survival rates, and reduced penalties for in-game mistakes.
Players who choose Sekiguchi gain advantages during repeated runs of challenging zones, longer fights with the environment, and have a higher chance of successfully extracting cargo even after a failed run.
Sekiguchi Quests (Contracts)
By completing quests for the Sekiguchi faction, you earn reputation, receive bonuses, and unlock upgrades.
- Cutthroat Competition – In Dire Marsh, search for Deimosite Rods in Field Maintenance to support Traxus salvage research, then exfil successfully.
- Friction II – Defeat hostiles with precision shots, especially Runners. Exfil with Implants or cores for SekGen.
Sekiguchi contracts mostly involve recovering questionable documents, data, and old technology. Successful completion of contracts increases your Sekiguchi ranking and unlocks better rewards.

How To Play Sekiguchi Faction in Marathon

Since Sekiguchi is focused on resilience, the key focus should be on survivability and gameplay stability. Choose in advance how you like to play, and when possible, take the appropriate skill from the tree to be able to purchase cores from the arsenal.
Here are some tips for playing the Sekiguchi Faction in Marathon:
- Collect gear that enhances health regen, resistance buffs, and other survivability-oriented benefits.
- Avoid unnecessary PvP skirmishes unless required by contracts.
- Prioritize areas with recovery resources and fewer threats.
- Regularly restock supplies and upgrade your implants and cores to better control your character’s life.
SekGen also specializes in abilities, specifically the skill Lethal_Amp.exe, which provides bonus tactical energy when you kill an enemy Runner, and base ability energy when you eliminate them. However, SekGen is an endgame-focused system requiring rare resources such as Predictive Framework and Neural Insulation. The sequence of contracts and consistent reputation increases ensure steady improvement in raid success and allow efficient gameplay as Sekiguchi.
Conclusion
Sekiguchi in Marathon is a faction for players who value endurance and stable results under any circumstances. Unlike other factions, it is not focused on PvP gameplay but on staying alive longer and entering the most dangerous zones without consequences to reputation or progression. Sekiguchi is indeed a very strong faction if played correctly.
