The FIFA brand of games by EA sports is yet another area of the Esports industry that is growing. There is also a FIFA football world cup which we are waiting for a 2020 winner, as this event has not had a home to host it because of the latest pandemic crisis. Last year Mohammed Harkous from Germany was crowned the official FIFA World Cup winner, sending yet another football related world cup Germany’s way!

Christine Sinclair awarded the prestigious prize at the event, to the delight of the German player. Just this month was a memorable night for the Portland Thorns FC captain Christine Sinclair, who got recognition at the Best FIFA Football Awards show. She received an award for her incredible feat in setting the international goal-scoring record earlier this year. Sinclair scored a total of 185 international goals for the record but has recently added a goal to the tally.

The 185th record-setting goal came in the 2020 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifiers, in which she scored a brace against St. Kitts and Nevis for her country. Sinclair had to surpass the former record set by United States legend Abby Wambach to claim her new feat. In recent interviews, Sinclair claims the award to be an incredible moment for herself, as well as friends and family. She is also a sponsor of the well regarded Premier League competition.

Outside of FIFA gaming, Pro Evolution Soccer did have some competitions in action via its PES League final competition which ran from 2016 to 2017 but it didn’t stick and 2018 the competition from the previous 2 years did repeat itself.
