All callouts on the map Ancient in CS:GO

Ancient is the penultimate map added to the competitive CS:GO esports matches pool. The developers implemented changes in May 2021, having replaced the legendary map Train. For two years, Valve has been trying hard to change the balance from defense and average rounds scored by both sides. Nevertheless, the main advantage is still noticed while playing for the defensive side, which is considered to be the main drawback of the map.

However, Ancient is slowly becoming a common choice for many professional teams and regular players have already gotten used to the map in matchmaking. The style of the map is similar to Aztec, which was removed from CS:GO back in 2017. But the green tones allow Ancient to look like its predecessor, evoking notes of nostalgia.

We continue our series of materials dedicated to the callouts on one or other professional maps. The main focus is made on the spots usually used by professional teams and players. Now, we will talk about the map Ancient, describing all the key positions and spots, which should be learned to improve communication with teammates.

T-Spawn

Let’s start the review of the map Ancient from the spawn spot of the attacking players. Considering the geometry and the features of the map, there are enough positions where the clashes between teams happen.

  • T-Spawn: A place where the attacking side players spawn.
  • Canal: This is the passage leading from the T-Spawn towards the exit to the B site. It is an extended channel, a feature of which is the narrowness of space
  • Water: A little space after the exit from the canal.
  • Ruins: The generalized name of the position that connects water and the doors leading to the T-Ramp.
  • T-Ramp: The next direction of attack. It is a little lift that leads to a wide stone column in front of the exit to the middle of the map.
