FunPlus Phoenix, BBL Esports and Paper Rex drop out of VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo

The second gaming day of VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo has ended, as a result of which the teams FunPlus Phoenix , BBL Esports and Paper Rex suffered their first and last defeats, thus being eliminated from the championship. In turn, the teams Karmine Corp, DRX and Cloud9 got their first wins in the tournament and remained in the fight for the trophy.

FunPlus Phoenix - Karmine Corp

The opening meeting of the second gaming day started on the Lotus map, which became the choice of the Chinese team. However, the French quickly seized the initiative on the server, managing to close half of the defense with a two-fold advantage - 8:4. After the side switch, FunPlus Phoenix didn't manage to return to the game, while Karmine Corp confidently finished playing in attack and took the lead in the series — 13:6.

The teams then moved on to the Haven map, which turned out to be Karmine Corp's choice. Here the fight looked at the server, as the teams showed an equal first half and recorded a draw - 6:6. However, after the change of sides, the French disappeared from the radar, while FunPlus Phoenix managed to open up in attack and equalized the score in the series — 13:8.

Everything was decided on the Pearl map, the first half of which ended with a minimal advantage of ScreaM and the company — 7:5. However, the Chinese team disappeared after the switchover, while Karmine Corp confidently finished playing on defense and managed to get their first victory in the championship — 13:6.

BBL Esports-DRX

The next match started on the Pearl map, which became the choice of the South Korean team. However, here the BBL Esports players did not show any character, allowing DRX to dictate their terms to get a comfortable advantage - 9:3. After the side switch, the Turkish team did not appear on the server, while DRX confidently played to the end and took the lead in the series — 13:3.

Then the teams moved to the Ascent map, which became the choice of BBL Esports. Here, the South Korean team continued to stick to its line, managing to close the first half with a two-fold advantage — 8:4. However, after the switch of sides, BBL Esports players made an unbearable comeback to blow away their opponent and level the score in the series - 13:11.

Everything was decided on the Haven map, where all issues were resolved even before the switchover, as the South Korean team demonstrated a confident attack and knocked out a rout — 11:1. After the side switch, BBL Esports still tried to return to the game, but DRX had enough skill to finish off the opponent and knock him out of the championship — 13:7.

Cloud9-Paper Rex

The final match of the second gaming day began on the Lotus map, which became the choice of the Singapore team. However, Cloud9 players were able to take the initiative under their control to close the first half with a slight advantage — 7:5. However, after the switchover, the North Americans made them forget about Paper Rex, and at the same time took the lead in the series — 13:8.

Next, the teams moved to the Pearl map, which turned out to be the choice of Cloud9. Here the North Americans continued to bend their line, demonstrating a confident attack. In turn, Paper Rex came up with almost nothing for defense, winning only two rounds - 10:2. After the switch of sides, the intrigue did not appear on the server, while Cloud9 confidently brought the matter to a victorious end and knocked out the opponent from the tournament — 13:4.

VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo runs from February 13 to March 4 in Sao Paulo at Ginásio do Ibirapuera. As part of the championship, 32 teams from China, Europe, Asia and America are fighting for a total prize pool of $500,000.
