Day 1 of VALORANT Champions 2022 breaks record for most views since last Masters

The first game day of VALORANT Champions 2022 broke the record for most views since the last VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen. The main event of the season in the discipline started in Istanbul the day before. In the first matchup of the championship, the teams of Paper Rex and EDward Gaming met, which riveted the attention of over 807,000 spectators at the peak.

You can find a detailed analysis of the match in our previous article.

Recall that the last Masters collected the meager number of views in the history of international VALORANT tournaments, marking a peak of 783,985 viewers. These figures raised concerns about the future popularity of the discipline in the mainstream community.

However, the number of viewers on the first day of VALORANT Champions 2022 seems to suggest otherwise. In addition, the data provided by the Esports Charts analytical service does not include Chinese streaming platforms, so the exact number of fans watching the match could be much higher.

The most popular event in the history of the discipline is still VALORANT Champions 2021, which attracted 1,089,068 people at its peak. However, it is likely that the current event will collect much more impressive numbers.

Note that the second match of the group stage of VALORANT Champions 2022, in which the teams Leviatán and Team Liquid met, gathered 614,041 viewers at the peak.
