Paper Rex Debuts at VALORANT Champions 2022 with Victory

Paper Rex defeated EDward Gaming 2-1 at VALORANT Champions 2022, bringing them closer to reaching the championship playoffs. In turn, the Chinese team fell to the bottom of their quartet, where they will play with the loser of the match Leviatán - Team Liquid for the right to stay in the tournament.

The first match of the championship started on the Pearl map, which became the choice of the Chinese team. But if the first half went in an equal fight, then after the change of sides, the EDward Gaming players began to lose their grip. As a result, Paper Rex managed to take advantage of the situation to take control of the game and take the lead in the series - 13:11.

Next, the teams moved to the Icebox map, which became the choice of Paper Rex. However, the Indonesian team obviously did not expect to see the return of the opponent, who showed a lightning attack and actually decided all the issues in advance. Well, after the change of sides, EDward Gaming confidently finished what they started, managing to quickly equalize the score in the series — 13:5.

Everything was decided on the Haven map, the first half of which ended with a minimal advantage in favor of the Indonesian team. However, after switching sides, the Paper Rex players managed to scatter in the attack and deprive the opponent of chances. In turn, the Chinese did not manage to return to the game, allowing the opponent to get the first victory in the championship - 13:8.

VALORANT Champions 2022 takes place from August 31 to September 18 in Istanbul at the Volkswagen Arena. As part of the championship, sixteen teams from Europe, North and South America, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, China and Southeast Asia are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,000,000.
