Getting ready for the start of SEA Esports Championship 2021

A few hours remain before the start of the SEA Esports Championship 2021 - the first tournament of the new season for teams from Southeast Asia. At the championship, which will be held online from January 6 to 16, 14 teams will compete for a prize pool of $ 33,000. In this regard, we propose to get acquainted with the format of the event, the participants, the drawing of lots and the distribution of cash rewards for the SEA Esports Championship 2021.

SEA Esports Championship 2021 format

The championship will start with the group stage, which will take place from January 6 to 9. 14 teams are divided into four groups. While groups A and B will have four teams, three teams are seeded in the remaining baskets. All group stage matches will be played in BO2 format.

Group A:

  • BOOM Esports.
  • Goodfellas Gaming.
  • NINE Esports.
  • Kingsmen.

Group B:

  • COPIUM.
  • ONIC Esports.
  • CERBERUS Esports.
  • W KEY.

Group C:

  • Team EVO.
  • Bren Esports.
  • Shiba n the homies.

Group D:

  • South Built Esports.
  • DivisionX Gaming.
  • Sharper Esport.

At the end of the group stage, the top two teams will advance to the playoffs, which will take place from 13 to 16 January. Starting from the quarterfinals, the teams will determine the winner of the championship. All playoff matches. except for the grand final, they will be held in the BO3 format. In turn, the main match of the tournament will be held in the BO5 format. Also in the playoffs of SEA Esports Championship 2021 there is a lower bracket, where the losing teams will fall.

Prize fund distribution

  • 1st place: $ 8,000.
  • 2nd place: $ 5,000.
  • 3rd place: $ 4,000.
  • 4th place: $ 3,000.
  • 5th-6th place: $ 2,000.
  • 7th-8th place: $ 1,500
  • 9th-12th place: $ 1,000.
  • 13-14th place: $ 1,000.

Participants and favorites of the SEA Esports Championship 2021

Before the start of the championship, there was one change in the composition of the SEA Esports Championship 2021 participants - Bleed eSports withdrew from the championship, since it was unable to field a full squad due to restrictions on entry to Singapore. The place of the team at the tournament was taken by Copium.

The main favorites of the championship are BOOM Esports, Bren Esports and Sharper Esport. The teams represented are traditionally strong in their region. DivisionX Gaming and CERBERUS Esports should be considered as shadow favorites, which can compete with the main favorites of the championship.
