Welcome to EGamersWorld!
We continue our review of the Bracket Stage Mid-Season Invitational 2023 with a betting tee on Gen.G vs Cloud9. The match is an important, necessary match, but with a high probability it won't turn out to be an interesting one.
The winner of the pair will continue on to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023 and qualify for the next round of play-offs. The loser will drop out of the first major championship in 2023.
Frankly, the winner of the bout is already known, but what the hell. Could it be time for a scoop?
Let's find out if this match is going to have any surprises, or if everything will go according to script without any major deviations.
We open the analysis with an analysis of Gen.G. In this game, the LCK representative plays as a huge favourite.
The odds on the victory of South Korea's number one team is estimated at 1.01. That number hints thinly that everything is decided and Gen.G is already in the next round, only formalities are left in the form of the game against Cloud9.
And you can't really argue with that. On paper, things really do look bad for the LCS representative, and in reality the outcome is likely to be dire for the last North American representative at the tournament.
Gen.G are in favour for a simple reason: They are the reigning LCK champion, and in today's League of Legends you have to reckon with that status. Winning the most prestigious and competitive league in the professional world doesn't just happen, you have to earn it.
Gen.G has earned it. You cannot always win LCK after losing to T1 in the top finals of the lower divisions. Gen.G managed to return from the bottom of the LCK Spring 2023 to give T1 a rematch in such a way that they could not resist - Gen.G crushed their opponent, who was, for a moment, T1 of last year's Top 2 Worlds.
- Gen.G: Doran, Peanut, Chovy, Peyz, Delight.
At the Mid-Season Invitational 2023, the still top LCK team came in as the top favorite and remains so. Gen.G defeated G2 Esports (3-1) on the Bracket Stage MSI 2023 before advancing to the semifinals of the upper net, where Ledgee fell (2-3) to their main rival, T1. Gen.G still have a chance to get even with Faker and company, and we know from the example of LCK Spring 2023 that they are capable of winning.
Gen.G's most popular champions
- The most popular champion on the top line is Gnar (10 games, 90% wins). Jayce appeared 8 times and the win rate was 87%. Kenen played 4 times and won all games, KSante 4 times and 3 wins, Renekton 4 times and 2 wins.
- In the Forest, Vi (11 games, 72% wins), Sejuani (10 games, 80% wins), Wukong (7 games, 85% wins), Le Sin (6 games, 83% wins) were picks.
- On the centre line were Azir (13 games, 69% wins), Gragas (6 games, 100% wins), Kassadin (5 games, 100% wins), Viktor (4 games, 75% wins).
- The most popular ADC is Lucian (12 games, 83% wins). Next are Varus (8 games, 87% wins), Caitlyn (5 games, 100% wins), Zeri (4 games, 75% wins).
- Nami (13 games, 84% win rate). Ashe and Lux have 4 games and 4 wins each.
It's hard to imagine how things would have to unfold for Gen.G not to pass C9. Gen.G is the best team in the world in the defensive League of Legends and it's simply impossible to beat them with Cloud9.
However, hope dies last.
Let's continue the match review with an analysis of the C9 match form. The champions of the LCS Spring 2023 will play here in the status of the outsider with a fairy-tale deficit.
The odds of Cloud9 winning are estimated at around 13. I don't recall a similar figure in LoL in the final stages of such major tournaments as in this match.
Cloud9 are behind not so much because of weak play (but not without that), but because they are from the LCS, which is now the weakest of the four major tournaments in the League of Legends. At least all the previous top championships from Riot confirm that.
Cloud9 themselves are playing to the best of their ability and playing well. C9 were very confident in winning the LCS Spring 2023 and qualified for the Bracket Stage of the MSI 2023.
- Cloud9 line-up: Fudge, Blaber, EMENES, Berserker, Zven .
In the first round of the Bracket Stage Mid-Season Invitational 2023, Cloud9 faced the "easiest" of the Asian teams, namely Bilibili Gaming. Still, Cloud9 was unable to outplay the No. 2 LPL side while facing the top 1 LCK. Well, never mind about that.
The last-chance net was a little luckier. Cloud9 played a comfortable opponent, second-placed LCS Golden Guardians. The match was won easily, improving from the LCS Spring 2023 final: 3-1 then, 3-0 now.
Cloud9's most popular champions
- Top Line: KSante (3 matches, 100% wins).
- Jungle: Maokai (5 matches, 100% wins).
- Centre Line: Yone, KSante, Jayce, LeBlanc, Tristana, Oriana, Sylas 1 game each, losing only to KSante.
- Shooter: Varus (3 games, 100% wins).
- Support: Heimerdinger (2 matches, 100% wins), Soraka (2 matches, 100% wins).
It's hard to imagine how Cloud9 can beat Gen.G, given the fact of the latter's strength and Cloud9's results against the more passable representatives of Asia.
Gen.G - Cloud9 match history
The last match between the clubs was a match back in 2021. That was a 3-0 win for Gen.G.
Result of the match
It is already clear what the outcome will be. I'd like to believe in sensations, but they won't be here. But we'll be able to keep our eyes on Gen.G and potentially see a rematch of the Gen.G - T1 semi-finals, which is top notch content.
Bottom line: a 3-0 win for Gen.G.
All bookmakers have agreed that Gen.G is the favorite. This can be noticed because odds on them are 1.017. This number in the favor of Cloud9 amounts 13.933. Respectively, the last ones are the underdogs of the upcoming match.
What the team performance statistics say
|5 matches (wins)||3||4|
|10 matches (wins)||7||8|
The statistics of personal battles between teams is also important for successful bets.
The teams played 3 matches with each other before.
And Gen.G won 2 times while Cloud9 correspondingly became the winner 1 times.
