We continue to keep an eye on what's happening at LEC Winter 2025. The second week of matches is heating up.
In one of the fights we will see a match between SK Gaming and Team Vitality. It's hard to call it a title match, but The International heresy to the fight does not diminish it.
We are trying to find out who of the pair SK - Vitality will be stronger and earn important points ahead of the distribution of places in the play-offs.

Vitality's form
Let's open the analysis of Vitality vs SK Gaming match with the analysis of Vitality's form. In this match they will play as favourites with odds to win around 1.6.
Vitality started last season with their participation at LEC Winter 2023. In the regular season, Vitality went over the heads of their opponents: they played it 7-2 and then went to play the group stage, where they had much less luck. So much so that Vitality failed to get out of their basket, Ledgeiv SK Gaming and KOI. As a result, the top 5.
Next up was an appearance at LEC Spring 2024. This was Vitality's best split where they managed to make it to the top 3. However, that was enough for exactly nothing: just Top 3.
The last tournament last season for Vitality was LEC Summer 2023. And it was a total fiasco: Vitality had their worst performance of the year, going 1-8 in the regular season and finishing the split in the top 10.

The team has a pretty strong lineup, but the realisation is Vitality's kryptonite.
In the first match of LEC Winter 2024, Team Vitality will play against GIANTX, where I see problems for the Bees. I think EXCEL's peppy core will give Vitality a boost. And so it happened. And two more defeats later, against Fnatic and Team BDS.
Vitality were actually pleasantly surprised. After Long Sogpeg 0-3, the "bees" managed to comeback to score 4-5, thus making it to the next stage of the tournament.
In the first round of the LEC Winter 2024 play-offs Vitality played against SK Gaming. Surprisingly, the French were very convincing and closed the series with a score of 2-0. However, things were not so rosy after that, as Vitality played a derby against BDS, which ended with a super confident victory of the latter. The next match was the last one for Vitality in LEC Winter 2024. They played it against MAD Lions KOI and lost with a score of 0-2.
At the end of LEC Winter 2024 Vitality were ranked in the top 6. In the spring split Vitality performed much better and made it to the top 4. In the summer 2024 Vitality clearly failed to do well, finishing in the top 9 and thus failing to make it to Worlds 2024.
The first test for Vitality at LEC Winter 2025 will be a match against BDS. Next will be a match against Fnatic. At the end of the first week they will meet KOI. Opening the new week of confrontations at LEC Winter 2025 will be against a match against G2 Esports.
Most popular Vitality champions
The most frequent guest on the top line is Jax (2 matches, 100% wins). Also picked were KSante, Gnar, Gwen and Ornn, Renekton and Gragas. Ornn and Renekton lost their matches, not quite hitting the season 13 meta.
Bo predominantly played as Vi. One of the most meta characters of the season appeared in spades 4 times and won all his games. There was also Sejuani and Maokai (2 games and 1 win each).
On the centre line, Azir was the favourite character (3 games, 100% wins). The Croatian also played Ryze, Syndra, Cassiopeia, Tristana, LeBlanc and Taliyah. Only Tristana and LeBlanc lost.
Of the shooters, Zeri (3 games, 66% wins), Ezreal (2 matches, 100% wins), Varus (2 games, 100% wins) appeared most often. Caitlyn and Sivir peaked once each: the former won her game and the latter lost.
Of the supporting characters, Yummi (3 games, 33% wins), Ashe (2 games, 100% wins) played three times. Leona, Braum, Nami and Lux won once each.
SK Gaming form
We continue the SK vs Team Vitality match with the analysis of SK Gaming form. In this match they are playing as favourites with odds to win at around 1.9.
The main achievement of SK Gaming for the season before last was the debut winter LEC split. The team, being among the outsiders and previously ranked in the top 8 at LEC Spring and LEC Summer, managed to not only make it to the play-offs, but also put up a serious fight against MAD Lions in the match for the top 3.
What followed was much worse. At LEC Spring 2023 SK Gaming were not so confident. This time they managed to pass the regular season and bo1 matches, but not the group stage. SK fell in the top 7.

At LEC Summer 2023 SK Gaming almost repeated the spring result, with a slight improvement. They took the top 6, but thanks to the top 4 at LEC Winter 2023 they still made it to the regional finals.
However, SK Gaming's achievements ended at the LEC 2023 finals. There they played the only match against BDS and lost 0-3 without a chance.
SK Gaming passed the group stage of LEC Winter 2024 quite well. The team played the regular season with the score 5-4.
In the first round of play-offs SK Gaming met Vitality. After a disgusting season Vitality cameback, and so that they managed to reach the second round of the upper grid, and SK Gaming went to the lower grid. There, they faced Team Heretics in the first round and proved to be stronger, despite being nominal outsiders. However, SK Gaming's way out of the LEC Winter 2024 play-offs ended with a second round play-offs match against Fnatic.
LEC Spring 2024 play-offs were reached by chance and thanks to character. To get to the main stage they had to win a tiebreaker against Rogue. In the first match of the play-offs SK gave a good fight to Vitality, taking away their card, but unfortunately for them it didn't help them to win. Similar situation was in the match against Heretics, which led SK Gaming to the top 8.
SK Gaming finished the LEC Summer 2024 regular season in 1st place with a score of 8-1. At the Long Cognega play-offs LEC Summer 2024 defeated Heretics with a 2-0 win. Next was a match against Fnatic, where SK Gaming led 0-2. And in the next game they unexpectedly lost to Karmine Corp with the score 1-2.
At the LEC Regional Finals 2024, Long Sogpeg started from the bottom of the grid. They didn't get very far there, finishing in the top 6.
The opening match at LEC Winter 2025 for SK Gaming will be a match against GiantX. Next up was a match against Heretics. They will close the week with a match against G2 Esports. The next match will be against Karmine Corp.
SK Gaming's most popular champions
The top SK Gaming picks were Gnar (2 games, 1 win), KSante (1 game, 0 wins), Camile (1 game, 1 win), Sion (1 game, 1 win), Renekton (1 game, 1 win).
Sejuani and Eliza are honoured in the forest. Both champions have appeared twice each and won both matches, but Vi and Kindred have lost their games.
The centre line performs on Sylas (2 matches, 50% wins), Kassadin (1 time, 0 wins), Azir, Syndra and Akali (1 game each and 100% wins).
From shooters - Zeri. The character appeared 3 times and won 2 matches, besides Varus (who lost the only match), Sivir and Lucian.
Karma, who has had enough of Karma, as well as Renata Glasc and Lulu. Yummi won two out of 3 matches, Karma lost the only game, and Renata Glasc and Lulu won.

Team Vitality have played each other 5 times in the 2024 season, with SK winning three times.

In this match my bet is on Vitality. I don't consider them a much stronger team, but according to the first matches SK is still very difficult.
Bottom line: Vitality wins.
