The first matches of the group stage of the Mid-Season Invitational 2021 have been completed. In Group A, Royal Never Give Up and Unicorns of Love each won one victory against Pentanet.GG. In Group B, MAD Lions and paiN Gaming beat PSG Talon and Istanbul Wildcats. In the third group, DAMWON Gaming defeated Cloud9, while Infinity Esports beat DetonatioN FocusMe.

The winners brought themselves closer to reaching the next stage. There will be two best teams from each group. There, out of six teams, two more teams will be eliminated, after which the best quartet will advance to the playoffs, where three Bo5 matches will be played.

Recall that initially four teams were supposed to take part in Group A, including GAM, but the Vietnamese were unable to fly to Reykjavik to participate in the championship. The team faced difficulties in the form of closed borders, and the organizers of MSI 2021 decided not to change anything and left in their group as it is.
