Freecs Finally Break Their Losing Streak with 2–1 Win Over DRX — LCK 2025 Round 3–5
The day kicked off with a Rise Group matchup between DRX and Freecs. Both teams are sitting at the bottom of the standings, but unlike DRX, who still had a fighting chance, Freecs entered the match with a dismal 1–21 record.
Game 1 Picks:
- DRX: Gwen, Wukong, Aurora, Xayah, Nautilus
- Freecs: Rumble, Vi, Annie, Yunara, Rell
Game 2 Picks:
- DRX: Aatrox, Xin Zhao, Taliyah, Jhin, Alistar
- Freecs: Sion, Skarner, Azir, Senna, Bard
Game 3 Picks:
- DRX: Renekton, Nocturn, Sylas, Sivir, Lulu
- Freecs: Gragas, Jarvan IV, Galio, Kai`Sa, Neeko
Game 1 started with DRX holding an early lead — though much of it came from Freecs’ own mistakes. While the errors weren’t major, DRX capitalized on them effectively. However, as the match transitioned into the mid game, Freecs woke up and began turning things around. In every teamfight, they managed to trade favorably, often taking down DRX’s core members while only losing their support, Rell. Step by step, Freecs built up their advantage and eventually closed out the game in their favor.
Game 2 began strongly for Freecs, especially for their Senna. They had solid control across the map, and Senna stacked very well, dishing out heavy damage from the backline. Their playstyle worked best when they reacted rather than initiated — zoning DRX and allowing Berserker to carry fights. However, Freecs eventually overestimated their strength and began forcing engages. These initiations broke their formation, often leaving Senna exposed. Without her, Freecs lacked the damage to win fights. After losing multiple skirmishes, they reached a point of no return, as DRX scaled too hard and secured the win. The series was tied 1–1, heading into a decisive third map.
Game 3 was all Freecs. They dominated from start to finish with strong laning and excellent jungle presence — their jungler was always in the right place at the right time. Despite not having won a match since May, the final game looked surprisingly easy. It’s also worth noting that Freecs brought in a new support, Quantum, a rookie from their academy team. Based on this result, the change clearly paid off. Final score: 2–1 — a much-needed second win for Freecs.
Freecs’ ADC Berserker was awarded MVP for his impactful performance across the series, posting a 9/0/9 on Yunara, 0/3/4 on Jhin, and 4/1/7 on Kai’Sa.
Despite the win, Freecs remain at the bottom of the standings with a 2–21 record, making it extremely difficult for them to climb out of last place. As for DRX, this marks their 16th loss with 7 wins, keeping them in 4th place in the group.
